Wir kamen für eine Nacht, zur Durchreise mit dem Fahrrad. Sehr gut, auf dem Hinterhof Möglichkeit zum Laden der Ebikes. Das Zimmer war über eine Wendeltreppe von außen erreichbar, es war alles sauber und ausreichend Platz. Das Bett war bequem. Am Morgen zum Frühstück ging es in den Kneipenraum. Es gab normales Kontinentalfrühstück, mit sehr leckeren Cafe. Leider sind wir am Ruhetag angereist, so dass wir nicht in den Genuss von Livemusik und Außengastronomie kamen. Um noch was Trinken zu Gehen war am Sonntag in Edam sehr schwierig- alles zu, sonst eine sehr schöne Stadt.

Edam itself is the most beautiful characterful town we have visited on our business trip. However the welcome was shocking. In fact it was non existent. Our hostess didn't even take time to say: "welcome to Edam, welcome to Hotel Pension Harmonie". She marched ahead, unlocked the courtyard, shoved our room keys in our hands and didn't even offer to show us how anything worked. For us who are hoteliers in South Africa, it was just rude. Our little dormitory under the roof was very cosy, but whoever cleaned the room hadn't even plugged the bedside lights into the wall socket. At breakfast a very sweet young lady made us a delicious coffee and showed us the little buffet. No further interaction - such a pity, because just a little customer care goes a very long way.

We only stayed here for 1 night to break up our road north, but from the 9 different places we stayed in during the trip, this is 1 we all wanted to return to. Location is beautiful, right on the canal on a very quiet one way street, just a stroll from the shops in the centre. The apartments are built on the first floor and access is via an external staircase. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked, there is a dining table and a smart TV too. We were the only guests, but the lady who met us had gone out the way to prepare food including a basket of warm gluten free bread for those of us who needed it.

The first time we arrived, the music was so good we didn’t even bother bringing our bags up to our room until 10:00 when everything quiets down. A very friendly crowd of locals, and a chill vibe. We had to leave REALLY early to catch a flight, so they told us to feel at home, make ourselves some breakfast. We love this place.
