This really is a lovely hotel . The staff are very helpful and the rooms are all lovely. We are a a family of 10 and nothing was too much trouble . We had 2 nights and the first night we walked into Margate and had fish and chips on the seafront . The second day we went to The Hornby museum and into Ramsgate. We decided to order an Indian takeaway for dinner that evening and the staff set a table for us which was great. Breakfast is lovely too. Would highly recommend this hotel and would love to visit again .

We stayed here for one night for a concert at Dreamlands. The hotel is so full of character, a museum and hotel stay in one! We loved being taken back in time looking through the extensive memorabilia, fascinating! The hotel rooms are small but comfortable, immaculately clean with lovely white fluffy towels. Refreshments in the room including biscuits which were delicious. The staff are super friendly and welcoming, gave local information and taxi numbers, nice touch. The distance to Dreamlands is approx 20 minutes walk. We would definitely stay here again!

We took my Mum today for afternoon tea as it was her birthday. The service was awful. We waited a long time for our food and drinks to arrive. They carried it all out on two trays and just dumped the trays on the table and walked away. We weren’t given cutlery for the scones and cakes so I had to go and ask the ladies on reception as there was not one waiter/waitress in sight. We were there for 3 hours and not once did anyone come to our table and ask if everything was OK or if we needed anything. The young girl behind the bar was very rude when I asked if there were any tonics in the fridge as my bottle was warm. Our table was not cleared the whole time we were there and we were provided with tin foil instead of boxes to take the leftover cakes and scones home. The food was mediocre for the price. However, the ladies on reception were very pleasant and helpful, despite their clear frustrations with the restaurant staff. I would not return there and I certainly would not recommend it.

We were thrilled with our stay at The Walpole Bay Hotel. The hotel is quirky and oozes style and character. It has a 'warmth' lacking from more modern hotels. The warmth and friendliness extended beyond the decor... as the staff were all lovely. They were all very professional, personable and smiley. Always happy to help. Special mention to Caroline (Princess Caroline), Celeste, and the ladies on reception... who were all exceptional. Everyone including the bar staff and cleaners were great. No complaints at all. We enjoyed a good nights sleep and the breakfast was also superb. The veranda was a lovely place to take in a drink and some bar snacks of an evening. Watching the sunsets. Brilliant! Thank you to Jane and her great staff for a great stay. We hope to be back again for my 85th! (if not before)!

Great characterful hotel next to the beach and free community beach sauna ( bring wood) and tidal sea lido ( bring beach towels) Came to Margate to visit Tracey Emin gallery. This hotel has strong connection with the artist with many artworks so staying here a must. Great collection of art on linen napkins done by different guests. Quirky in house museum. No evening meals but lots of good restaurants. Stayed in room 305. Great views from balconies . Good bathroom.

Stepping back in time to when life was lived at a slower pace, this hotel is a wonderfully quirky advertisement of how to honour the past, yet still deliver excellent service & a great experience. Make sure to admire the napkin art & visit the corridors of artefacts & curios. A memorable visit.

An incredible place - not to be missed! From arrival at the beautiful 'garden' fronted entrance, to the amazing lobby and then to be met by such wonderful staff ... its amazing! You are encouraged to wonder around the Hotel/Museum and explore and absorb all the exhibits and corridors - and visit (and play) in the amazing Pink snooker room. Breakfast was great - but the Cream Tea was absolutely fantastic ... A Must visit place!

Great characterful hotel . Great location next to free Beach Sauna ( bring wood ) and sea swimming area ( tidal plus breakfast no beach towels). No evening meals but plenty of great local restaurants. Came to Margate to visit Tracey Emin gallery- hotel has great connection with the artist so staying here a must.
