Introduction Taiko Drum Performances in Okinawa

Introduction
Some information may have been translated by Google Translate
The Taiko performance in Okinawa Prefecture, namely EISA Taiko, is an important part of Ryukyu's traditional culture and originated from the sacrificial activities of the Bon Festival. In the performance, the passionate drums are combined with brave dances to show a unique artistic charm. EISA Taiko is divided into large and small Taiko, and the drummers play according to the size of the drums to form a rich sound effect. There are many Taiko performances in Okinawa Prefecture, such as the 1,000-person Taiko performance in Kokusai-dori, the daily performances in Ryukyu Village, and the EISA Taiko Festival across the island of Okinawa, which attract many tourists and local residents. These performances not only represent the Okinawan people's respect and remembrance for their ancestors, but also become a cultural resource link connecting people inside and outside Okinawa. Through Taiko performances, people can deeply feel the unique charm and profound heritage of Okinawa's traditional culture.

Okinawa secret heaven

Okinawa secret heaven

Cape Maeda near the blue cave is exactly what you would call a hidden paradise. From the main road, you'll have to walk about 1km than pass through a bushy lane just as if you are entering the secret gardan and voila, this beautiful scene unfolds before your eyes. Not only it's so breathtaking, it's not at all crowded. You can enjoy your own peace with nature here.

Akachichi Guesthouse

Just 5 minutes from the famous tourist spot Cape Maeda and close to the Blue Cave, one of Okinawa's renowned diving spots, you'll find the 'Akachichi' guesthouse. 'Akachichi' is an Okinawan term that means the time before sunrise, a time cherished by the guesthouse owner. Staying here feels like the coolness of the early morning, offering tranquility and the sounds of nature before starting a refreshing day. The accommodation is designed in the Ryukyu style (native to Okinawa), featuring high-ceilinged cottages with red roofs and surrounded by a variety of subtropical plants, creating a serene atmosphere. Location: 348 Maeda, Onna-son, Kunigami, Okinawa 904-0417 Price: 2,300 - 2,700 THB

Okinawa beach

#thingstodo The room was fantastic and the staff was unbelievably friendly! Our room had a beautiful view of the ocean, as do most others. The food was good, albeit a bit over priced, but the restaurant waitstaff definitely made the experience enjoyable. There is a convenience store on the premises, which is great for snacks, beer, and sunscreen. My main complaint is around the handling of activities and the beaches. For example, we brought our own snorkels to use at the beach. However, when we tried to go into the water, we were told we needed a life vest. We head up to the pool counter and they want to charge ¥1000+ for life vests just to use our own snorkel gear. Quite annoying since we are both experienced swimmers and just wanted to poke around for a bit. Overall, the hotel was very nice.

Ryuku Mura

#2024wish This was an educational and interesting visit. There is an educational bent where you learn about various Japanese living structures and the history of villages and homes. There are a variety of traditional shows with song, dance, music, drum performances, and demonstrations of farm processes and pottery making. There is a gift store with a good variety of souvenirs, as well as a place to grab a nice lunch or snack. They have several kiosks/stands for children to do arts and crafts such as making jewelry or painting clay shisa dogs.

Cape Manza

#2024wish First visit Okinawa cape manza , very beautiful place to visit , beautiful sunset and the staffs very helpful and friendly. I will definitely recommend my friend and family to visit cape manza. Went there with good weather and it’s a little stroll around the designated walkway. There is a whole tourist building / information centre complete with toilets, restaurants, even a very clean diaper changing facility and nursing room. At the restaurant, you can still enjoy the sea view.
