It's one of the largest churches in Egypt and among the largest Christian worship centers in the Middle East. ⛪️ It was actually dug out by scavengers! The history of the Cave Church dates back to the 1970s. At that time, Cairo's Zabbaleen (garbage collector) community was forced to relocate near Mokattam Hills due to urban development. Most of these residents were Christians, and they dug caves in the mountainside, transforming them into churches as places for religious activities. . The secret to visiting one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world, Khufu Pyramid, is to choose a place to stay that is close, as close as possible. Khan El Khalili is an old and large market dating back to the 14th century, with over 2,000 shops lined up and bustling with tourists and locals every day. In Arabic, the market is also called a bazaar or souk. The area where Khan El Khalili is located is in the historic district and is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are other tourist attractions nearby, such as mosques and museums, so it's efficient to visit them all at the same time! There is no subway station nearby, so the best way to get there is by taxi or ride-hailing app.

#newyearnewtrip It was our first time staying at a Steigenberger Hotel and we were pretty excited. We wanted somewhere central and went with this one because of the good reviews. The hotel was in a central location, but somehow, something felt off. There was a KFC nearby, though a bit of a walk, but the vibe when we were walking around didn’t feel great, maybe it's a different kind of atmosphere to what we're used to. Hotel security was tight with bag scans at the entrance. Though the hotel was nice, it didn't have that sense of warm and welcoming. The room was alright, but the bathroom was a highlight, modern and well designed.

Zööba] This Egyptian restaurant is popular for its koshari. The interior is cute, but it's frequented by both tourists and locals. We ordered koshari, molokheiya, and taameiya to share for two people, and the portions were just right. The koshari tomato sauce was sour and topped with plenty of fried onions, so you can enjoy the texture. The taameiya was a good amount, fried crispy, and delicious! My personal favorite was the molokheiya, which had a strong garlic flavor that gave it an energizing taste. It had a thick, strange texture, but it was delicious. The hibiscus limeade we ordered as a drink was also refreshing and not too sweet, so it was great! [2. Koshary Abou Tarek - كشري أبو طارق] A famous koshary restaurant that is used to tourists. I asked a Cairo acquaintance and he said that this is the best koshary restaurant. The flashy interior had a fountain, chandeliers and over-decorated. It was so crowded that it took a while to order. I ordered the smallest size of koshary, but the amount was so large that I was full quickly 😂 Compared to other restaurants, the tomato sauce was less sour and seemed richer. And the macaroni and pasta were a little hard with an al dente texture. The contrast in bite was fun.
