One second you’re checking out a Gothic masterpiece like the Toledo Cathedral, and the next, you’re wandering into a tiny shop filled with swords, knives, and shiny damascene jewelry. It’s kind of like a history museum, shopping mall, and fairytale town all rolled into one. The whole place is super walkable, and every corner feels like it belongs on a postcard. The views? Unreal. Especially from the Mirador del Valle, major “wow” moment. Whether you’re here for the culture, the eats, or just that medieval vibe, Toledo absolutely brings it.

#summervacay Okay, if you’re in Toledo and walk past Damasquinado Suárez without popping in, you’re seriously missing out. This little workshop/store is where the magic happens. We're talking damascene art: super intricate gold inlay on steel that looks like it belongs in a royal treasure chest. It's shiny, it’s detailed, and it’s totally mesmerizing to watch being made. What makes this spot extra cool is that they actually make the stuff right there. You can see the artists in action, chiseling and tapping away like they’ve got all the time in the world. And they’re not just doing touristy keychains, think jewelry, plates, swords (yes, swords), and other epic souvenirs. The vibe is super chill, and the folks there are friendly and happy to explain how it all works, even if you’re just browsing. Honestly, it’s one of those places where you walk in out of curiosity and walk out slightly obsessed. If you want a piece of Toledo’s artistic soul, this is the spot.

#summervacay If you're anywhere near Cuenca, you've got to stop by Ventano del Diablo. First off, the name literally means "Devil’s Window", how cool is that? It’s this dramatic natural lookout carved into a cliff, and the view? Absolute fire. You’re staring down into a deep, twisty canyon with the Júcar River snaking below. It’s one of those spots where you just stand there like, “Okay nature, I see you.” The whole area has this epic, almost spooky energy, especially if the wind’s howling. The drive there is also a treat: winding mountain roads, pine forests, and then boom, this wild view pops out of nowhere. There's even a little platform you can step onto for full panoramic drama (if you're not afraid of heights). It’s a quick stop, maybe 15–30 minutes, but it leaves a mark. Bring a jacket (it can get windy), take a bunch of pics, and soak it all in. Devil’s Window? More like Heaven’s Balcony.

#summervacay Okay, this place is straight-up magical. Ciudad Encantada, or "The Enchanted City," is like walking through a fantasy movie set—but made entirely by nature. You’re basically wandering through a maze of gigantic limestone rocks that have been carved into wild shapes over millions of years. One looks like a mushroom, another like a turtle, and there’s even one that straight-up looks like a giant bear. You half-expect to see fairies fluttering around. The trail is super chill, about 3km and easy to follow, so even if you’re not big on hiking, this is doable. Plus, there are signs explaining each rock formation, and some of the names are hilarious. It’s fun trying to guess what shape the rock is before reading the sign. Bring snacks, wear decent shoes, and don’t forget your camera, this place is Instagram gold. Honestly, Ciudad Encantada is one of those “how is this even real?” kind of places. Definitely worth the stop if you’re anywhere near Cuenca!

#summervacay Cuenca in Castilla-La Mancha is one of those towns that makes you go, “Wait, how is this not way more famous?” Built on cliffs with wild drop-offs and jaw-dropping views, it’s basically a postcard that forgot to brag. The famous Casas Colgadas (hanging houses) legit cling to the edge of a cliff like they’re defying gravity. Totally surreal, and yes, there’s a museum in one if you wanna peek inside. The old town is full of twisty cobbled streets, colorful buildings, and chill little cafés that are perfect for a midday vino or snack. There’s a peaceful, slow vibe here. It’s artsy but not pretentious, historic without being stuffy. The bridge over the gorge gives insane views (and a slight adrenaline kick if you're not into heights). Whether you're into architecture, nature, or just wandering with no real plan, Cuenca is the kind of place that leaves a mark. Quietly cool, totally scenic, and way more than just a quick stop.

#summervacay Right in the middle of Cuenca’s colorful Plaza Mayor, the Catedral de Santa María y San Julián is just sitting there looking like a total Gothic queen. It's one of the oldest Gothic cathedrals in Spain, and yeah, you can totally feel that epic history as soon as you lay eyes on it. The facade is all dramatic arches and stone details, with this wild mix of medieval and neogothic styles that somehow works perfectly. Step inside and gorgeous stained glass, soaring ceilings, moody lighting, and quiet corners that feel like a peaceful little escape from the world. Don’t miss the side chapels (each one feels like its own mini-museum), and if you’re up for it, head to the triforium for an awesome view over the nave and plaza. Totally worth the extra couple euros. The whole place is cozy but grand, spiritual but relaxed. Whether you're into history or just love a good wander, this cathedral is absolutely worth a stop.

Guadalajara Mirador Felix Rodríguez de la Fuente Road to Sigüenza in Torremocha del Campo in 1980 in honor of the work of Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente This viewing platform was built on the road, and you can enjoy the magnificent scenery from this viewing platform. Mirador de Trijueque The viewpoint offers unparalleled views of the Alcarria Valley (valle de la Alcarria), the meandering river, and safety guardrails that allow visitors to stop to admire the scenery and take photos. The sunrise and sunset views here are particularly charming. The sun shines between the hills and fields, creating a colorful picture, which is very suitable for photography enthusiasts. Ciudad Real Sierra de Los Molinos de Campo de Criptana "They found 30 or 40 windmills in Campo..." That's Kriptana's windmill. This is how Cervantes begins Chapter 8 of Don Quixote, mistaking the windmills for the giants he is about to fight. They are "tower" mills, built of masonry and whitewashed with lime. Under the sunshine of La Mancha, the windmills unfold their blades. No one can miss the opportunity to watch the sunset from this mountain top, where the sky, clouds and sun are Intertwined into a wonderful picture, come here to enjoy the scenery and take photos! In addition to these locations that are great for taking pictures, there is also the Ermita de San Cristobal in Ciudad Real, from where you can see the plains of La Mancha, and the Albacete Mirador de Jorquera, Mirador del Diablo, etc. are all worth a visit!

Cuenca Cerro del Socorro (P1) At an altitude of 1,147 meters, the top of the mountain offers a breathtaking view of the entire city of Cuenca, including the iconic buildings in the World Heritage area and the winding rivers. It's a paradise for photography enthusiasts. Whether you're a hiking enthusiast or a road tripper, you can easily reach the top of the mountain. Along the way, you'll find lush vegetation and fresh air, perfect for relaxing or immersing yourself in nature. At the top of the mountain, there's a magnificent statue of Christ, a popular spot for admiration and photography. In addition to the natural beauty, you can also go rock climbing here! Nacimiento del río Cuervo (P2-P4) The Cuervo River cascades down from high cliffs, forming a spectacular landscape. It's one of the most attractive attractions in Cuenca. Take photos at the source of the river and the beautiful waterfalls, linger along the interesting scenery, and capture surprises in the tranquil villages. In addition, the high altitude and abundant rainfall in this area allow many species of flora and fauna that are not found in other parts of Castilla-La Mancha to thrive here. Toledo Mirador del Valle (P5-P7) This is a famous attraction in Toledo, offering the best panoramic view of the city, especially enchanting at sunrise and sunset. It's located on one side of the Tagus River. Before going up the mountain, you'll pass by the Puente de Alcántara, where you can also enjoy the river and the Castillo de San Servando. Barrancas de Burujón (P8) This canyon is composed of steep earthen cliffs up to 100 meters high, formed by the wind and water erosion of the Tagus River over millions of years, creating a unique landscape with a variety of colors ranging from pure white to golden brown, in stark contrast to the surrounding natural environment. There's a circular ecological trail of about 6 kilometers, with several viewing platforms along the way, suitable for short hikes and providing excellent material for photography enthusiasts. Puente de San Martín (P9-P11) A late medieval building, a model of military architecture, standing on the west side of the Tagus River as it passes through Toledo. It has five arches, with the main arch in the middle being the largest and most striking part of the bridge. From the bridge, you can overlook the magnificent view of the Tagus River. Defensive towers are set at both ends of the bridge, showing its military use. These towers were used to monitor the river and protect the bridge from foreign invasion.

Dreaming back to the Middle Ages, part two, exploring the legendary castles of Toledo and Ciudad Real. Toledo Guadamur Castle The Alcazar, a typical 15th-century residence of Toledo, is magnificent and well-preserved. It consists of a castle, fortresses, barriers and moats. Today, the castle is still inhabited and we can stroll around its exterior to admire the aesthetic effects of its architecture influenced by Italian art. After restoration, it has become one of the best preserved medieval castles in Spain. Consuegra Castle This 800-year-old castle is unique not only for its location overlooking La Mancha and its mills, but also for its rich history and architectural style, closely linked to the Order of St. John of Jerusalem (Orden de San Juan de Jerusalén). We can stroll along the city walls and parade grounds, and even go inside to see the various weapons and furniture on display to recreate the atmosphere of the time. Oropesa Castle The castle consists of two parts: one is the old castle, a well-preserved Arab fortress, and the other is the 15th-century Palace of Counts of Oropesa, Álvarez de Toledo, condes de Oropesa, which has a stone staircase that is unique in Spain. The history of these buildings therefore belongs to two consecutive periods of the Middle Ages, the Muslim period (Old Castle) and the Christian period (New Castle). Ciudad Real Calatrava La Nueva Castle A medieval castle, we can walk along the castle's paths, courtyards, towers, etc. In addition, the 13th-century convent still retains a gate with a rose window, a chapel, a refectory and kitchen, and a cemetery. The artisans' auxiliary quarters, accommodation, stables and cellars complete this magnificent picture of medieval life. Peñarroya Castle It is one of the best preserved fortresses in the Campo de San Juan area once occupied by the Knights of La Mancha. What is very interesting about the castle is how it uses natural fortifications: the south and west sides are natural cliffs, while the north and east sides have double walls and moats. Montizón Castle A 13th century fortress built to control an important traffic route. In Roman times, this was part of the Way of Hercules or the Via Hercúlea o Augusta, which connected Cádiz to Tarraconense and eventually to Rome itself, and the builders of the castle took advantage of the natural vertical faults in the hill.
