Like we see in the fictional movies like Narnia, where even the plants🌴 would extend their support for greater humanitarian causes; one such scene is this in Khasi hills of Sikkim. As our exploration in North eastern part of India continued, we hiked on to explore this hanging living roots🌿 that provid the perfect bridge to cross across the small waterways. Although the very first such bridge was formed naturally some 300 years ago, later as tourism🥸 flourished the humans put out the roots together so in a span of 20 years they will be completely grown as a bridge binding together. You may need a good stamina to hike down some 4km and play in some water pools out there; again hike up then ! Quite a tedious effort, but totally worth it. Cascading beauty in the "Abode of Clouds"! 🌧️ Just mesmerized by the majestic Prut Waterfall in Meghalaya. Tucked away near Cherrapunji, this hidden gem is an absolute must-visit. The trek through lush greenery is an adventure in itself, leading you to this stunning cascade that plunges from a height of around 40 meters. What makes Prut Falls truly unique? You can actually go behind the waterfall! Standing enveloped by the roaring curtain of water is an unforgettable experience. The tranquil ambiance and untouched beauty make it perfect for nature lovers and photographers alike. We visited during the monsoon season (June to September is ideal!) and the waterfall was in its full glory, a powerful display of nature's raw beauty. I arrived in late March, expecting melting snow. Instead, I was greeted by a dramatic finale: the season’s last snowfall, wild and beautiful, painting everything in dazzling white. The journey began at Sela Pass, a gateway into a world of silence and snow. The Sela Lake, frozen mid-mirror, lay still under a moody sky, its turquoise surface locked beneath layers of ice. Up at Bumla Pass, where India meets China, snowdrifts towered higher than jeeps. The air was razor-sharp, yet the heart felt full. Sangestar Lake — often called Madhuri Lake — was the highlight. Completely frozen, it glowed beneath the pale sun, with ghostly tree trunks piercing through the ice like sentinels of a forgotten time. We paused at Jaswant Garh, a tribute to Rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat, whose bravery still echoes in these highlands. Even this sacred place was dusted with fresh snow — peaceful, proud, powerful. Tawang isn’t just scenic. It’s spiritual, remote, and humbling. The monastery, prayer flags fluttering above snowbanks, and the warmth of local Monpa hospitality make it a rare gem worth every twist in the road. Best time to witness the frozen beauty: Late December to early April — unpredictable, but unforgettable. Getting there: Via Tezpur or Guwahati, with an overnight stop in Dirang. Every place I visited in Meghalaya felt like a piece of untouched heaven — from waterfalls that roared with life as they cut through emerald-green valleys, to lakes so still and clear they reflected not just the skies, but a sense of calm I hadn’t felt in a long time. The beauty here doesn’t just speak to your eyes — it speaks to your soul. But beyond the stunning landscapes and thrilling adventures like ziplining, kayaking, and cliff jumping, it was the people who left the deepest impression. There’s a quiet grace in the way the locals live — close to nature, with humility, kindness, and an unspoken understanding of what it means to care for the land and for each other. In Mawlynnong, known as the cleanest village in Asia, I saw what true community looks like. Clean pathways swept daily, vibrant flowers blooming at every doorstep, and smiles that felt like home. Upon arrival, I was invigorated by the fresh air and natural surroundings. 🌳💧 My adventure began with a visit to the amazing Nokratai Falls, where water flows beautifully between the rocks and the surrounding scenery was amazing. I spent some time taking photos while listening to the soothing sound of the water. 📸🌊 I also visited a local village and learned about the unique culture and heritage of the local people. The experience of hearing their stories and participating in their daily activities was amazing and added depth to my trip. 🏡👥 One of the most remarkable moments was exploring the hanging “Bridge of Life”, one of the natural bridges carved into the roots. Crossing this bridge was a unique experience as I enjoyed the view of the forest from above. 🌉🌺 You can’t forget the taste of local food while tasting traditional dishes that combine unique Indian flavors. The dining experience in a natural environment was amazing! 🍽️🌶️ Meghalaya is not just a tourist destination, it is a sanctuary of tranquility and natural beauty. The beauty I witnessed there is unforgettable and is a sight worth seeing and experiencing. Nongriat is a well known treking point in Meghalaya. Its situated in East Khasi Hills. The main attraction is the living double decker root bridges. Its a 3500 concrete steps trekking. The other attractions is the blue lagoon. That particular lagoon is so soothing to the eye and its a wonder. The water is very clear, even we can jump into the water with a life jacket. Second trip to this jewel in the north eastern part of India! And what a trip this was. Managed to squeeze in a little personal travel time between the meetings and networking. Part from the lovely people and delicious food, Meghalaya has some of the world's best natural sights that I have ever seen! Personal opinion but true story. Really a wonderful place to visit and tour around.
