Unlike the tall city gates made of huge stones that we imagine, the town arches in Faro are quite small, making them seem mini and cute. The town also predominantly features white buildings. 🚗Transportation tips: There are buses 🚌 between Faro and Seville. You can go from Seville to Faro, and then from Faro to Lisbon. It was a trip to Faro, Portugal 🇵🇹 I have been to many places in Portugal but this is my first time to Faro. On the first day, we visited Faro's historic center, starting with Faro Cathedral. We also explored the very famous Arco da Vila (Town Arch) which once served as the entrance to the city. We also stroll along the Ria Formosa, a coastal lagoon that has shaped Faro's history. The view was beautiful and definitely worth to visit. We also headed to Praia de Faro, the main beach in Faro, and spent the morning soaking up the sun and swimming in the clear waters. We explored the rugged coastline of the Algarve region by taking a guided tour along the scenic EN125 coastal road. We also stopped at viewpoints like Ponta da Piedade near Lagos for breathtaking vistas 😍😍😍 We also explored picturesque villages like São Brás de Alportel and discovered hidden gems nestled among the rolling countryside. We visited the Algarve's highest point, Foia, near the town of Monchique, for panoramic views of the region. Fortunately, it was a clear day, and we were able to see all the way to the coastline. We then returned to Faro and unwind with a leisurely stroll through the Jardim Manuel Bivar, a lovely park in the city center overlooking the marina. Peaceful stay up Faro We stayed at Guest House 41 in Faro. It was clean, quiet, and within walking distance of the Old Town, but far enough to avoid the noise of nightlife. Perfect if you are looking for a peaceful stay. We also ate at Se7e Pedras Wine & Bar and really enjoyed it. The food was great, the staff were friendly and accommodating, and they had good vegetarian options with clear gluten-free labelling. but definitely hire a car and venture out of faro to neighbouring cities!! Wow 🤩 Only €5 entry fee. From the out side it looked like a tiny building with some sort of roof terrace platform that people were able to go up. Worth paying the €5 for the view across the city and the nature reserve. Frequent planes flying over made for a great spot to watch them take off. With the added bonus of some good photos. Once inside I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the cathedral and all the detailed art work with in it. Consumed a lot of time taking it all in. Also had a museum and an outside garden area along with toilets.
