Between the large and small hutongs of Liangrui Town, I accidentally met this small broth that was hidden in the trail. With its 2,478 stupas, Kakku is definetly one of my favourite place in Myanmar 🇲🇲 It was quite a journey to get there from Inle Lake but definitely a rewarding one. The local tribe here has also a particular way to dress and they are really proud of their culture. To get to this special place you need to get a driver as public transport is not an option. It is a truly rewarding trip.

They have been building their own huts on top of this water surface for at least a century. They travel by boats and row them with their feet in an interesting manner. The place is known for its astounding weaving industry! Their locally made textiles can range from $50-$100. Considering how this is culturally maintained and the hours it took, it’s somewhat normal for tourists but is a luxury for locals. You can get to Nyaung Shwe, the nearest town by land and take off from there to reach the heart of the village. It takes about 1 hour by boat and the views of the mountainous terrain in somewhere so untouched by human inventions is truly astonishing! There are local sellers with boats that sell you snacks for the birds. They will fly near you for some food! There’s a popular Pagoda in town with many other popular places like a traditional clothing store, silver gadgets, etc. A day is enough but you can also choose to stay at a luxury hotel that overlooks the lake too!

If you are a feline lover, then the Inle Heritage Stilt Houses should be on the top of your list. This attraction is a Burmese cat sanctuary for the furry animals and cat paradise for tourists who love pets. You will find adorable kittens at the bottom part of one of the stilt houses. Spend a healing time at the attraction petting kittens and take photos with gentle cats occupying the area. Their life demonstrates that wealth is not just about money; contentment is true wealth. This family lives a peaceful life surrounded by nature. Their greatest wealth is their mutual trust, understanding, empathy, and support. With loving support for her husband's skills, they patiently create a special treat together—delicious sticky rice cooked in bamboo tubes (Kauk Hnyin Kyee Dout), a craft they began as newlyweds. This seasonal dish is typically enjoyed during Thingyan (Water Festival) and Tabodwe (around January/February). It's also eaten during the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda Festival, Shin Pyu (novitiation) ceremonies, and religious examination periods. U Nay Win's Kauk Hnyin Kyee Dout is made using traditional methods: soaked sticky rice is placed in bamboo tubes and cooked over a strong fire.
