#2024TravelReview Located in the east of Jingyang County, Shaanxi Province, Zhengguo Canal is a spectacular attraction. We spent a whole day visiting this large canal with a long history and interesting stories. We set off in the morning, the weather was great and we took many beautiful photos. Zhengguo Canal is a great water conservancy project. It is not only a wonder, but also embodies the wisdom of later generations. The canal originated from the ancient "strategy to exhaust Qin". Initially, it was intended to consume Qin's resources, but eventually became China's earliest large-scale damless water diversion and irrigation project, benefiting the people. This canal is known as "the best canal in the world" and is also praised as a "world irrigation engineering heritage". It has been continuously irrigating the agricultural civilization of the Guanzhong Plain for the past two thousand years. Now, let us explore this little-known legendary place together. Zheng Guo, the soul of Zhengguo Canal, demonstrated extraordinary wisdom during the construction of the canal. He cleverly used the terrain to connect the Jing River and the Luo River, creating a water diversion channel of more than 150 kilometers. He transformed the saline-alkali land into a fertile plain by irrigating the Jing River water with organic matter. |The tallest ancient brick pagoda in China. Jingyang Chongwen Pagoda, the tallest ancient brick pagoda in China, stands proudly in Jingyang County (now part of Jinghe New City, Xixian New Area). It was built in the 19th year of the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty (1591 AD), with a total height of 87.218 meters. The 13-story pagoda bears the weight of history. The pagoda was built by Li Shida, then Minister of Personnel, to encourage students in various counties to study hard. It was officially announced as a national key cultural relic protection unit in 2001. There are brick stairs inside the pagoda, and you can climb to the top to overlook the view. Each floor is dedicated to a Buddha statue. The Buddha statues on the lower floors are solemn and large, while those on the upper floors are smaller and more delicate. On the 13th floor, there are two metal Buddha statues, which are exquisitely shaped and crafted, and are breathtaking. After visiting Chongwen Pagoda, you can go to Tongde Building to taste the specialties.

Move on to the next stop. ▪️Fuyun Platform: You need to buy shoe covers (CNY 1/pair) to enter the glass walkway. Cliff swing 💰CNY 60/person. Try it if you like thrills. Bamboo raft drifting 💰CNY 30/person (children over 80 cm are charged). You need to walk down a steep staircase. ▪️Heigou: There are many small waterfalls and karst caves. The unique landscape allows children to experience nature. There is also an artificial attraction, Dragon Palace. Adults may not find it interesting, but it is a favorite of children. There are many models of marine animals, shrimp soldiers, crab generals, pearls, and scallops. Children can play here for a long time. ▪️Peacock Bay: This is the last attraction. Did you know? Zhengguo Canal is a place with a rich history. In ancient times, it was like a "life-giving water" artery, built under the supervision of Zheng Guo. It made great contributions to the irrigation and development of the Guanzhong region, making the land fertile and rich, and nurturing a brilliant farming civilization. Starting from Xi'an, it takes about an hour to drive to Zhengguo Canal. You can sleep in and leave in the morning, as the scenic area opens at 8:30 am. The ticket and round-trip bus fare are only CNY 100 per person, and the parking fee is only CNY 10, which is a great deal. After entering the scenic area, take a bus to the top of the mountain, and then play all the way down. The first stop is Zhengguo Lake, where the wind is strong and cool. If you want to have fun, take a speedboat; if you want to relax, choose a sightseeing boat. The feeling of cruising on the water is amazing. Next, go to Fuyun Terrace, where the cliff swing is super exciting. If you're timid, you can walk on the glass walkway. Buy a shoe cover for CNY 1, and you can overlook the beautiful scenery. Bamboo rafting is originally super fun, but unfortunately, it is temporarily closed due to rising water levels. Be sure to come and experience it when it reopens. Then go to Heigou, where you can shout at the Shouting Spring, and there are also attractions such as Jinghe Dragon Palace, Moon Swing, and Time Tunnel. Yixiantian is a must-see, which is super spectacular. Finally, go to Peacock Bay, where the Longxu and Longxian waterfalls are located. The water flows loudly, and the water vapor on your face is very comfortable. If you have more time, take the in-depth tour route to see more beautiful scenery. The scenic area is very large, and it takes about four to five hours to walk around and take photos, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes. Also, pets are not allowed in the scenic area. We were very full and didn't have to worry about missing breakfast.
