Pass though the Todos Santos town, make a stop to see the hotel California, and have some tacos. ➡️Day 2: Explore La Paz and enjoy the Marine. Meet the sunset at Cerro de La Calavera🌅. ➡️Day 3: Isla Espiritu Santo. Take a boat tour and enjoy the Balandra Beach on the way to the island🏝. ➡️Day 4: Drive to Cabo San Lucas - take another route and enjoy the beauty of the Baja California Sur. Check in Tesoro Los Cabos Hotel and enjoy the pool. ➡️Day 5: Take a morning hike to mount Solmar with a local guide🏔. After that, enjoy time and Divorce&Lovers beach🏖. You can take a water taxi and meet sunset there☀️. ➡️Day 6: Take a whale-whatching tour in the morning🐋. After that, rest at Medano Beach and have lunch at a local cafe. Meet the sunset with a Pacific ocean view at Cerro de la Z. The views are marvelous. ➡️Day 7: Take a stroll around Cabo San Lucas, get some souvenirs, and head to the airport✈️.

Let’s be honest: #CaboSanLucas wasn’t our thing. It’s overpriced, crowded, and full of spring break party vibes. You’re constantly asked if you want to buy tours, drugs, or pharmacy stuff. And the #diving? Just okay. The real underwater magic is found outside of Cabo – in peaceful, nature-focused places with real Baja energy. If you’re here for marine life, reef diving, and authentic ocean experiences, head to the places that actually deliver. ⸻ 🌿 📍Cabo Pulmo – Marine Reserve Magic We were there in April and May, and got lucky: • Massive mobula ray aggregations • Humpback whales still hanging around • A surprise whale shark encounter • Visibility was mixed, but the water was warm and the air just right Local dive guides recommended September to November as the best time: warm water, great visibility, whales starting to return, sea lions playful with their pups, and vibrant reef life. Food tips: El Caballero (fresh & simple), Tacos & Beer (casual), and La Palapa (beachfront). ⸻ 🐬 📍La Ventana – Ocean Safaris & Chill Vibes In La Ventana, you can hire a private captain for ~3,000 pesos per person (ask around for a trusted local). The vibe is laid-back and ocean-obsessed – perfect for slow adventurers. We saw: • Huge schools of mobulas • Dolphins, sea turtles, colorful reef life • And depending on the season: whales and whale sharks Also a great place to eat well (try Nomada Organics or Playa Central) and relax. ⸻ ☕ 📍La Paz – Where Ocean Meets Culture La Paz combines city life with wild ocean encounters. It’s walkable, local, and full of charm – plus, it’s a great base for some of the best dives in Baja. Playa Balandra isn't just another beach — it’s a whole journey. We took a speedboat across the bay as part of an excursion, and honestly? That alone was worth it 💨🌊 You completely skip the long car line (since entry is limited) and glide straight into paradise. ✨ On the way, we spotted whales breaching in the distance 🐋 (last picture), and even passed a sunken yacht lying dramatically on the water’s surface — kind of eerie, kind of cool (picture 6)🛥️👀 Once we arrived, it felt like stepping into a dream: shallow turquoise water you can walk through for what feels like forever. Cold at first? Yes ❄️. But totally refreshing under that Baja sun 😎☀️ Of course, we made our way to the famous Hongo de Balandra — the mushroom-shaped rock you have to see in person 🍄📸 ⚠️ Bring water shoes if you want to get close — the rocks are sharp and slippery! ➡️Just know: excursions give you limited time on the beach (about 30-40 minutes). Mirador Balandra took my breath away — literally and figuratively. After a short 20 min hike (which you can manage in slippers) through desert trails dotted with cacti of all shapes and sizes (seriously, check photo #4 — that cactus was massive 🌵📸), we reached the top… and just stood there in silence. The view was unbelievable: glowing turquoise water, soft white sand, and layers of desert mountains beyond. It felt more like a painting than real life 🎨🌴 Part of me didn’t even want to post this — it felt like one of those secret places you want to keep just for yourself. But okay, here you go 🤭 ✅ Just 30 mins drive from La Paz. There’s free parking and no entry fee. It gets windy at the top, so hold onto your hat — but wow, it’s worth it. Hotel Republica Pagana has the most Insta worthy rooftop in the entire city of La Paz, California, Mexico. It is a new hotel with stunning architectural work. the rooftop of the hotel has a vibe of Gaudy architecture, peculiar curves and bends to the ceiling arches. The place is absolutely stunning and provides the best view over Malecon and sea of Cortez. I enjoyed sitting there and sipping my drink while watching blue of the sea and the sky... The best part - you don't have to be a guest, you just need to make a reservation and come to enjoy a drink or a meal at the rooftop. I am a sunset girl, so surely I'd advocate that the best time to come is sunset - sun rolls into sea of Cortez and provides epic stunning views to enjoy! #northamericatrip #mexico #lapaz

Bahia de los muertos is a spot about 3 hours drive from Cabo San Lucas or one hour from La Paz. There is a story why this bay got this sad name. It is due to big amount of rocks under the water and unpredictable currents, so that many sailors who entered the bay and were not aware of quickly changing in weather and rocks under the water, sunk their ships here. I'm not sure if it's an urban legend or that's true but in any case, the place is just beautiful. There are a few restaurants, Mexican style, was pretty decent food. They are all waterfront, so it's just perfect to sit and enjoy the sunset there. Not many people know this place so it's usually very chill.you can walk along the beach for quite sometime, there different rock formations, lots of shells in the sand and stunning views everywhere you look. #internationaltravel #100waysoftravel #mexico

Playa Muertitos is located about 40 minutes drive fromLa Paz town, Baja California Sur, mexico. You want to see any foreigners there, only locals on the weekends. During the weekdays, the beach is pretty empty and you can totally have it for yourself. Tip: it's not an easy drive, and you need a car was pretty high clearance because the road is pretty damaged for the last few kilometers. One more tip: there is no cellular connection at the beach, so make sure you download all your maps offline before you go. Malecon is a famous embankment in La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico. It is right downtown of this charming town and it will take you about an hour to walk along it. Malecon is dotted with numerous tiny beaches right within city premises. Some of them are suitable for swimming, some are too close to cargo port for that. But in any case, all beaches along, Malecon are perfect for sunset. You will see many locals walking along and enjoying the view. #weekendgetaways This beach is definitely worth a visit. Shallow waters make for smaller wave breaks. More swimmable than some of the other beaches that I’ve been to out here, such as Punta Lobos. More people too. I parked near the Mayan Village palapas on the southern end of the beach. Less people on this end, more private. Fun to watch the kids learn how to surf. The food truck was not open when I went. I also didn’t see public bathrooms.
