🇪🇸 🌋 Lanzarote: Spain's Most Otherworldly Destination💓
Lanzarote, located in the northern part of Spain's Canary Islands, boasts a surreal landscape of stark volcanic rock formations and captivating deep blue coastlines. Visiting this island feels like stepping onto Mars 🪐.
🦅 Timanfaya National Park
This park encapsulates the island's unique beauty. Formed by over 100 volcanoes erupting continuously for six years, the landscape is a testament to nature's raw power. The black basaltic lava fields, dotted with ring-shaped craters and vast reddish-brown deserts, are awe-inspiring 🌍. You can explore this volcanic heartland by tour bus or opt for a more unique experience—riding a single-humped camel 🐫.
🍷 The Geria Vineyards
The volcanic eruptions covered the land with rock fragments, which the island's farmers ingeniously use to grow grapes 🍇. Each grapevine is protected in a circular stone pit, creating a unique landscape found nowhere else in the world. The volcanic soil imparts a distinctive flavor to the wine produced here, which you can sample at various wineries 🥂.
🌴 Papagayo Beach
Beyond the volcanic landscapes, you can unwind on the island's most famous beach, known for its platinum-colored sands 🏖️ and crystal-clear turquoise waters.
Lanzarote is also the birthplace of artist César Manrique 👨🏻🎨, a staunch advocate for the integration of natural landscapes with art. His rugged yet exquisite artistic legacies are scattered across the island ✨.
🔹 Jameos of the Water (Jameos del Agua)
This architectural marvel is set within a natural cave. As lava flowed, seawater seeped in, creating a clear, shimmering blue lake that mirrors the cave's ceiling 💠. The natural auditorium formed by the lava is both sacred and stunning.
🔸 River Viewpoint
A spectacular lookout point converted from an old battery, it seamlessly blends into the surrounding environment, making you feel like part of the volcanic landscape 🏜️. From this vantage point on the Famara cliffs, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the meeting point between lava flows and the ocean 🌊. In the distance, the island of La Graciosa glistens on the water's surface ⛰️, as if frozen in time.
🔹 Cactus Garden
On beautiful terraced slopes, nearly 1,500 different species of cacti from around the world, from Mexico to Madagascar, thrive 🌵. The garden feels more like a massive piece of art 🎨.

César Manrique Foundation 🇮🇨
The César Manrique Foundation is situated in Lanzarote, Canary Island.
César Manrique was a multi-talented artist, architect, and environmentalist whose impact on Lanzarote is immeasurable. He was born on the island in 1919 and returned to Lanzarote after studying art and architecture in New York. Manrique's vision was to blend the natural beauty of Lanzarote with art and architecture, preserving the island's unique character while creating harmonious living spaces.
The César Manrique Foundation is located in the artist's former residence and studio, making it a place of great historical and cultural significance. The building itself is a work of art, with white walls, large windows, and open spaces, all seamlessly integrated into the volcanic terrain.

This island is also famous for its subtropical temperatures and stunning beaches. We recommend you the beach of Yaiza, very beautiful and relaxing.

Here you c
Here you can see how strange and how beautiful is the island of Lanzarote. This is the place where all the views are like from Mars and not from the Earth. The Timnfaya park is the place where you can see all these volcanos. Also there are many small lakes around.

#arrecife is the main town of the fabulous island of #lanzarote part of the Canary Islands, Spain. The town itself is like administrative center and not very touristy but it still worth a visit. There is a fortress near the beach which is very nice.

Lanzarote: Hitting Must-See Spots by Public Transport! 🚌🌋
#summervacay
It's usually recommended to spend three to four days in Lanzarote to tick off all the classic attractions. During my trip, I relied solely on public buses and walking to get around, and it was super convenient! Each bus ride cost €1.40, and I found the buses were generally quite punctual, sticking to the times advertised at the stops.
Here are a couple of highlights from my car-free adventure:
Museo Lagomar (A Hidden Gem!)
This place (pictured in images 1-6) was fantastic! I took a bus to the foot of the hill and then walked about 10 minutes to reach it. The €10 entrance fee was definitely worth it. While it's called a museum, it's really more like a unique blend of a museum, an art gallery, and a cafe, all housed within what feels like a small castle built into a volcano! I explored fascinating indoor spaces within caves and enjoyed the large courtyard with a swimming pool. Seriously, every angle here was photo-worthy!
Cuervo Volcano (An Unforgettable Group Tour)
Since public transport doesn't reach Cuervo Volcano (pictured in images 7-9), I opted for a local day tour. It was incredibly easy to find and book a tour once I was there – I just looked up tour operators on a map and booked on the spot. A full-day tour, usually including everything, cost me around €70-€80.
I'd highly recommend joining a tour for this volcano. Our guide and local escort really made the experience special. They demonstrated the geothermal heat, just like in image 8, and even let us touch the volcanic rocks to feel their temperature. It was truly fascinating and very enjoyable!

[Island of Volcanoes and Art] Experience a trip to another world in Lanzarote✨
Lanzarote, in the Canary Islands of Spain, is an island with an extraterrestrial landscape of black volcanic areas and white buildings🌋
At Timanfaya National Park, you can experience geothermal cooking and volcanic fumes up close, and you will be overwhelmed by the power of nature!
When you actually visit, you will be impressed by the space where the roughness of the volcano and the beautiful architecture created by artist Cesar Manrique are fused together. There is a cafe in a cave, an art museum built on lava, and other unique worldviews everywhere✨
Access is about 1-2 hours by plane from Tenerife or Madrid. It is convenient to travel from Lanzarote Airport by rental car🚗
🎯Tips: A guided bus tour is a must for Timanfaya National Park! It is best to make a reservation in advance.
We also recommend the "Art Route" that takes you around Manrique's works 🗺️
Perfect for solo travelers, couples, and anyone who wants to enjoy nature and art at the same time. Why not try traveling to the "other side of the earth" on Lanzarote? ✨

Let me tell on how Trip.com changed my Canary Islands journey
#canaryislands #lanzarote island ! What a paradise. So let me get straight to the point and tell you why you choose the title is not a random word I chose but really things to trip.com. I was able to find a very cheap rental car for entire week. I was there with my girlfriend and I can ensure you it’s an awesome different experience. While most of the tourists have just been just in being a city, you have the car you just have the free roaming around the entire island to reach places to talk with the locals and experience was 10 times better than I could ever imagine also got a very good deal on the resort were staying which we save more than 20% of the trip that being said I couldn’t recommend more to go to the Canary Islands because of the remote location of the island which is still being part of Europe, the weather is fantastic. Most of the time of the year they have amazing Spanish cuisine And a very vibrant landscapes that reminds me of Iceland or any volcanic scene from this science fiction movies.

César Manrique Trail
#cityplaybook
Leave the palms of Haría on the 8 km Circular de Haría, winding through terraced farms and fragrant pine pockets. Add an out‑and‑back on the Camino del Risco (3–5 km) for cliff‑edge panoramas over La Graciosa. En route, pop into the Casa‑Museo César Manrique, a fusion of lava, art, and 1970s cool. Back in Haría, reward yourself with a barraquito coffee in the shade of the plaza. Time it right for the Saturday craft market to pick up aloe‑vera goodies, and listen for birds—this sheltered valley is Lanzarote’s greenest nook.

Coastal Charm
#cityplaybook
Begin on Playa de Famara and follow the dirt path of the GR‑131 northeast toward La Caleta de Caballo (≈ 6 km one way), cliffs on your left and Atlantic spray on your right. Loop back inland through Soo village, cutting across sandy goat tracks to create a 13–15 km circuit. Wide‑open sea views, kitesurfers, and volcanic dunes keep the scenery fresh all day. Wrap up with a cold Tropical beer at a surf bar in Famara while crimson cliffs glow at dusk. If the tide’s right, detour down to the natural seawater pools near Caleta for a salty dip before the return leg.

Volcanic Loop
#cityplaybook
Start at the Centro de Visitantes de Mancha Blanca, then head to Caldera de los Cuervos for a 4 km crater loop (trail: Sendero Volcán El Cuervo). Next, link to the Montaña Negra circuit or head straight into the La Geria wine region via the La Geria Trail (Ruta del Vino, ~8–10 km with optional extensions). Lava fields, vineyards, and smoking‑looking craters all roll past under endless blue. Finish with sunset and a tasting of Malvasía at a roadside bodega. Swing by the tiny hamlet of La Florida for a gofio‑based dessert, and don’t forget sunscreen—the black ash magnifies the sun.
