#hostellife The People was an award winning hostel brand, so I had been interested in trying the place. It so happened that I decided to drop by Lille, and there’s not only a branch there, the rate was only a third of The People in Paris. At around RM90/night, the place offered a huge cozy common area with a pub/cafe, together with a nice bright outdoor terrace. Located close to the edge of the old town of Lille, it takes a lil longer to walk, but still within manageable walking distance, about 20min. And being further from the center also means more quietness at night. What I appreciated this hostel was that there’s plenty of space in the room for me to unpack my 28” luggage without getting shy of blocking others.

Lille was not originally on my travel itinerary. On the night I arrived, I went out to find some food and explore the city, and was completely surprised by the lively and unique city that greeted me. But it is actually not far from Bruges, a popular European tourist destination, and within a 60 km radius of Lille, there are as many as 10 World Heritage Sites.
