Postojna Cave
A massive stalactite cave and Slovenia's second-largest cave system, Postojna Cave is a renowned tourist destination. You can purchase a combo ticket to visit both the cave and Predjama Castle. Inside the cave, you can ride a small train and follow a guide to learn about the formation of the cave—an intriguing experience.
Parish Church of St. Stephen
Located in Postojna's city center, this church serves as a spiritual hub for locals. Situated on a slope, the church overlooks a small square below, which is often used for events and as a resting area for visitors.

🛒Shopping Guide:
The world's only cave post office📮

Predjama Castle, the epicenter of the Slovenian wisdom?
Predjama Castle seems to have been built in a cave on a cliff to plan for earthquake drainage.
The view from outside the castle is much more beautiful than the inside of the castle.
I also attached a view of the town from inside the castle.
It was easier than I thought to get to Slovenia.
Seoul - Croatia Zagreb Airport. (You can buy cheap flights if you check Trip.com.)
Rent a car at the airport and check if you can cross the border when renting.
It is a little cheaper if you book a package with Predjama Castle and Postojna Cave.
You can enter Predjama Castle without waiting, but you must make a reservation for Postojna Cave.
We reserved a time for Postojna Cave and went to see Predjama Castle first, then Postojna Cave.

Exploring the Depths and Heights of Slovenia: Postojna Caves & Predjama Castle
Slovenia surprised me with its fairytale charm, and one of the highlights of my trip was a day spent exploring the mystical Postojna Caves and the dramatic Predjama Castle—a duo that combines nature’s underground masterpiece with a medieval marvel built into a cliff.
Postojna Caves are one of the largest karst cave systems in the world, and the experience begins with an electric train ride that whisks you 3.7 km deep into the belly of the earth. Walking among the towering stalagmites, delicate stalactites, and the famous Brilliant column felt like entering another world. Don’t miss the chance to see the olms—rare blind salamanders known as “baby dragons” by locals. 🐉
Just a short drive away is the Predjama Castle, perched impossibly on a cliffside, half inside a cave. It looks like something out of a fantasy novel, and it is just as fascinating inside. From secret tunnels to dramatic views, every corner tells a story of resilience and rebellion—especially the tale of knight Erazem who once held off a siege using a hidden cave passage.
Tips & Tricks:
• Buy a combo ticket online for both attractions to save time and money. ⏳💸
• Dress warmly—the caves stay a cool 10°C (50°F) year-round, even in summer. A jacket and comfy shoes are a must. 🧥👟
• Time your visit: Go early to beat the crowds, especially in summer. Cave tours depart at set times, so plan ahead.
• Photography inside the cave is tricky (and sometimes restricted), so enjoy the moment—there’s a professional photo op inside if you want a keepsake.
• The castle has steep stairs and uneven surfaces—be ready for a bit of a climb! ⛰️
Visiting both in one day is totally doable and highly recommended. The contrast between the cool, silent depths of the cave and the bold cliffside fortress above makes for a day of wonder and adventure.

[Slovenia] A castle in a cave!?!? [Predjama Castle]
This time, we will introduce Predjama Castle (Predjama Castle) in Slovenia 🏰
This castle was built inside a cave 123 meters high.
It is said that the caves behind the castle protected the castle and provided water and an escape route.
It is cold, dark, and humid, so it seems uncomfortable to live there, but in the Middle Ages, safety was more important than comfort.
The windows in the rooms were made from thin skin like animal bladder membranes because glass was expensive.
There was also a torture chamber inside the castle. (10th photo)
The guide fee is included in the ticket, and you can use the guide by installing the Predjama Castle app on your smartphone. There is also a Japanese version.

Landscapes in harmony with Slovenia's nature
#OctoberTravelSupportEvent I visited Slovenia after going to Croatia. I was completely captivated by its beautiful and comfortable atmosphere, even more so than my main destination. It's a really quiet, clean, and cool place even in the summer, so I want to go there again.
Predjama Castle

The family trip to Predjama Castle was like stepping into a medieval legend come to life. Nestled within a towering cliffside, this fortress seemed to defy gravity, its stone walls blending seamlessly with the natural rock formations. Exploring its labyrinthine passages and hidden chambers, we were transported back in time to an era of knights and intrigue. The castle's storied history, from daring sieges to secret escape routes, captivated our imaginations and sparked endless speculation. From the imposing exterior to the ornate interior, every corner revealed new wonders and mysteries waiting to be uncovered.
As we reflect on our unforgettable visit to Predjama Castle, our next dream destination to travel with family is the majestic landscapes of Iceland. We envision chasing the Northern Lights across the dark winter skies, marveling at the otherworldly beauty of geothermal hot springs, and exploring rugged volcanic terrain dotted with cascading waterfalls. Iceland's dramatic natural wonders promise to ignite our sense of adventure and create cherished memories that will last a lifetime. Whether soaking in the soothing waters of the Blue Lagoon or trekking across glacial landscapes, Iceland beckons us to embark on an epic family journey of discovery.
Predjama Castle 🏰

Predjama Castle in Slovenia is a mesmerizing blend of history and nature, and my visit left an indelible mark. Carved into the mouth of a cavern, this castle is a marvel of medieval architecture and ingenuity.
Exploring its labyrinthine chambers and passages was like stepping into a fairy tale. The castle's strategic location and its dramatic history, including tales of the defiant knight Erasmus, make it an intriguing destination.
The highlight of my visit was the breathtaking view from the castle's windows, which overlook the picturesque valley and the surrounding forests. It's a view that feels straight out of a storybook.
Predjama Castle is not only a testament to human creativity but also a testament to nature's beauty. The adjacent Postojna Cave adds to the enchantment, creating a unique and unforgettable experience that I highly recommend to anyone visiting Slovenia.#slovenia #predjama #postojna
The castle where the Slovenian version of Robin Hood lived
📍Predjama (Predjama) Castle
▪️This Predjama Castle is located in the village of Predjama, about 11km from the village of Postojna and about 9km from the Postojna Cave.
▪️It is a structure that connects the castle walls to the outside of a naturally formed cave. It is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest cave castle in the world.
A place that played a great role as a fortress
▪️The portrait in the photo is of Erazem Lueger, the 15th century castle lord.
According to the guide, he was like Slovenia's Robin Hood because he shared what he took from the rich with the poor. Since it was surrounded by rocks on all sides, it was able to withstand external invasions, but the bathroom was vulnerable to external attacks, so it is said that he died here, but it is not true that he died in the bathroom....
