Our honeymoon along the Amalfi Coast was one of the most unforgettable experiences we’ve ever had. We arrived in Rome and took a train to Naples before meeting our driver at the station. From there he drove us to Amalfi where we met the owner of the apartment we rented. Then we took an exhilarating and lovely boat ride to our holiday apartment at Conca Dei Marini, a small town nestled in the along cliffs of the Emerald Grotto. We wanted to stay away from the crowded provinces so Conca Dei Marini, with its lovely quiet beach was perfect! There were a few quaint restaurants along the beach serving fresh seafood and pasta so it was not hard for us, food wise even though we were a boat ride away from all the action. It was a little piece of heaven and our apartment overlooked the beach and the sea which was so amazing. This beautiful paradise was our base while we explored the coast and it was convenient to get a boat from Conca to Amalfi, where you can get ferry tickets to other popular spots like Positano and Sorrento. The Italian summer is blazing hot so wear light clothing and comfortable shoes because these cobblestoned hilly paths and steps can be quite a challenge to city folks like us. Maybe this is also why the Italian senior citizens we saw looked so fit and healthy! It was really good exercise especially after consuming all the delicious pasta and pizzas. We did however hire a private driver for a day trip to Pompeii as we know that it would be a physically draining day. It cost us a pretty penny but it was worth it as we could get a lovely glimpse of the other coastal towns on our drive back to our apartment. We ate so much during our stay because everything was so fresh and delicious. The anchovies we had were one of the highlights of our culinary experience, as well as the pizza at Naples, of course. I spent my days here wandering through narrow, winding streets filled with charming boutiques selling handmade sandals, linen clothes, and, of course, the famous Limoncello. 🍋 The scent of lemon trees and fresh sea air was everywhere – it’s impossible not to feel relaxed! The highlight of my trip was lounging on Spiaggia Grande, the main beach, where you can rent a sunbed for around €20. The views from the beach are iconic, with the pastel-colored houses rising up behind you. 🏠 I took a boat tour along the coast, which was an incredible way to see Positano from the water and discover hidden caves and coves. If you’re up for a bit of exercise, hiking the Sentiero degli Dei (Path of the Gods) offers breathtaking views of the coastline. 🌄 Dining in Positano was another treat – I had the best seafood pasta at a cliffside restaurant with a view that was worth every penny. 🍝 For dessert, I indulged in a slice of Torta Caprese, a local almond and chocolate cake. Positano, seen from the hill, was like a painting in itself. In particular, the buildings seen from the hill were arranged in steps, so the colorful houses blended in with the sea was really impressive. The small alleys between the buildings and the blue sea beyond them were visible at a glance, and the harmony was really attractive. As you walk along the mountain path, there were beautiful gardens and lemon trees here and there, and the scent was really nice. The quiet yet lively atmosphere I think it's a special charm that you can only feel here. Time seemed to pass slowly on the hill of Positano, so I was able to forget my daily life for a while and enjoy nature leisurely. 📍Positano Hill

The entrance fee was around 12 euros, and it’s well worth it for the incredible history you get to witness. Walking among the massive Doric columns of the Temple of Hera and the Temple of Athena, I felt like I was stepping back in time. The scale and grandeur of these structures are truly awe-inspiring. The on-site museum, included in the ticket price, offers fascinating artifacts and insightful displays about the history and daily life of ancient Paestum. 🏺 Nearby, the picturesque Cilento Coast is perfect for a relaxing day by the sea. Just a short drive away, you can explore the charming town of Agropoli with its medieval castle and stunning views.
