#Aqueduct-Segovia, Spain
#MarchGoodPlaces2025
There is a towering and huge ancient Roman building in Segovia, Spain - the Aqueduct. Built in the first century AD, it has a history of 2,000 years. The highest point of the aqueduct is 28.5 meters. The building is supported by 167 arches. The water source comes from the Lengshui River 17 kilometers away. The aqueduct was built by stacking stones one by one without any cement or adhesive to stabilize the aqueduct. Moreover, the aqueduct has a history of two thousand years and is still standing. Many large and small aqueducts can be seen in Spain. These are buildings under the rule of the ancient Roman Empire. Not only in Spain, but also in any European region ruled by the ancient Roman Empire, there will be buildings that provide water sources necessary for human life. This also allows mankind to see that in addition to its military strength, the ancient Roman Empire also had a talent for architectural art that left future generations with admiration for the Roman Empire.

I swear this is the best suckling pig I have ever eaten #Mesón de Cándido - Serbia, Spain
#MarchGoodPlaces2025
When you come to Serbia, Spain, you must visit the Mesón de Cándido roast suckling pig restaurant to feast on it. Located under the aqueduct, the Mesón de Cándido roast suckling pig restaurant is a century-old restaurant and is quite famous locally. The most special thing is that the boss personally cuts the suckling pig. He uses a plate to cut the suckling pig into pieces and then throws the plate on the ground. It is a very special way of eating. The suckling pig's skin is golden and crispy, and the pork is tender and juicy. No wonder tourists like to order this restaurant. There are several roast suckling pig restaurants nearby that also attract customers on the aqueduct, but this roast suckling pig is still the most popular among tourists, perhaps because of its century-old history and reputation!

The prototype of the legendary Disney Snow White Castle: Segovia Castle
#Castle #100 ways to travel
Did you know that there is a castle in Spain that is the prototype of Disney’s Snow White Castle? Yes, it is #Segovia, a suburban town not far from Madrid. It is famous for its spectacular Roman aqueduct and fragrant roast suckling pig. This castle is #Segovia Castle Alcázar de Segovia.
This castle built on the cliff is a fortress made of stones. It is condescending and highly defensive. It was later converted into a gorgeous palace of the Spanish royal family. The castle music festival is held regularly every year, attracting many tourists. It is a beautiful castle. One of the two most popular attractions in Govia.
Tickets are required to enter the castle. A special ticket to visit the palace, artillery museum and tower costs €9. If you do not visit the tower, it costs €6. As far as taking beautiful photos is concerned, the exterior of the Segovia Castle is much better than the inside, and it matches perfectly with the earth-yellow mountains in the background.
In fact, the old town of Segovia is not big. Walking from the bus station, you will pass the aqueduct and the main church along the way. You can walk to the castle in about 15-20 minutes. The alleys and buildings along the way have a medieval feel, which is very suitable. Plan a day trip and eat roasted suckling pig!

Segovia specialty food - roast suckling pig: Restaurante José María
#Segovia is a popular tourist town near Madrid, Spain. It is famous for its spectacular stone #RomanAqueduct, which is 28 meters high and 728 meters long. It directly cuts across the entire town, and even the road has to give way!
When it comes to Segovia’s delicacies, we have to recommend #roastedsucklingpig. Especially the century-old shop "José María", which has as many as 15,000 reviews on Googlemap and a score of 4.6. You can imagine how amazing it is!
José María's suckling pig is roasted to golden brown, with crispy skin, tender meat, and is so juicy that it melts in your mouth. But the most special thing is the serving show of the roast suckling pig. When the whole suckling pig is served, the chef actually cuts the suckling pig on a "porcelain plate"! You can see how crispy it is when it is baked. The plate can be cut apart and then a spoonful of secret sauce is poured over the dish from the ceramic jar. It is quite an exciting serving show.
In addition, when the food was served, I found that the plates were actually hot! This should be to keep the food at its best temperature and taste, and the details and service are quite attentive.
In addition to roast suckling pig, there are also various Spanish seafood and terroir meals. The taste is pretty good, but the business is too good and there are always long queues. Not only tourists like it, but locals love it too!

Gorgeous, historical Aqueduct of Segovia
If you’re going to Madrid, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is worth a visit too! About an hour or so away, one can conveniently purchase a bus ticket at the Madrid Moncloa station for maybe around 10 euros for a return ticket (I’m sorry I forgot the exact price but it was affordable!). And the bus takes you right to the centre of Segovia, which is great.
From there, in just 10 minutes or so you can walk/stroll to this amazing, impressive aqueduct, very obviously the main feature of this town. It’s unmissable and even the main street leading up to it is named after it. Its grand and old and anything grand and old is worth looking at, in my opinion hahaha because hey, it’s been standing for ages. A little piece of history and culture, you know?

Castle in a fairy tale book 🏰
In Segovia, Spain, there is a castle 🏰 looks like a castle in a fairy tale book 🏰, it is said that the castle 🏰 in the story of Disney's Snow White Park, are using it as a reference blueprint.
The castle🏰 is built on a mountain with a wide view and is strategically in an excellent location.
The castle🏰 looks beautiful and elegant, right in front is square, next to are round shaped pointed roof, it feels very romantic💗💗💗
The interior of the castle🏰 is also quite beautiful, showing the hall, living room, meeting hall, and also displaying many medieval samurai armor and weapons.
And I like to see the scenery from the window, from a high position, with rural views outside the window, open view.
The stained glass in the castle🏰 is very exquisite and beautiful, worthy of careful appreciation.
Finally visit the museum and leave satisfied.

Old Roman Aqueduct
In the ancient city of Segovia in the suburbs of Spain, there is a famous attraction, the remains of the aqueduct, which is a must-see when visiting.
The aqueduct was built in the first century AD and is supported by 167 arches to transport water. But by the 20th century, due to automobile pollution and erosion of the granite, cars were banned from the square and it is now a pedestrian zone.
Walking forward from the bus station, you will soon see a very long and magnificent aqueduct. You can also go up along the stairs on the side and enjoy the view from a high place. The scenery is very beautiful.
It is recommended to travel to Madrid, and it is definitely worth making a day to visit Segovia.

Segovia Cathedral is a 16th century Gothic building. The most different from the Gothic buildings I have seen before is that there are many small spires here. The interior of the cathedral is very gorgeous, with detailed carvings, and some holy relics are preserved in the church, so it is worth paying to visit the cathedral.

#CityTrip #Spain #Segovia A city where I only remember eating delicious roasted suckling pig and walking around for half a day with ice cream in one hand. Mucho Gracias as a fellow human being to my ancestors who left behind such a functional city. Spain is really cheap, but I only have good memories. The air is good, the wine is delicious, and the people are positive, lazy, slow, and stuffy.

A Fairytale Fortress Above the Clouds – My Visit to the Alcázar of Segovia
#summervacay #AlcazarOfSegovia #SegoviaCastle #FairytaleCastle #SpainLandmarks #SegoviaSpain #UNESCOSite #HistoricSpain #DayTripFromMadrid #SpanishArchitecture #CastleViews
Visiting the Alcázar of Segovia felt like walking into the pages of a fairytale. Perched high on a rocky cliff with sweeping views of the surrounding plains, the castle’s pointed turrets and stone walls looked straight out of a storybook—no wonder it’s said to have inspired Disney’s Cinderella Castle.
I arrived in the afternoon, and the sunlight cast a soft golden glow over the walls. As I explored the royal halls, armor displays, and stone corridors, I couldn’t help but imagine what life must’ve been like when kings and queens ruled from here. The Hall of Kings was particularly striking, lined with detailed busts of Castilian royalty.
Climbing to the top of the tower was a bit of a workout, but the panoramic view of Segovia’s rooftops and the distant mountains made it absolutely worth it. It’s not just a historical monument—it’s an immersive journey through Spanish history and imagination.
Travel Tips & How to Get There:
• Best time to visit:
• Afternoon for lovely light and fewer tour groups.
• Try to stay until golden hour for the best photos.
• How to get there:
• From Madrid, take a high-speed train (AVE) to Segovia-Guiomar Station (~30 mins).
• Then take a bus or taxi to the old town.
• The Alcázar is about a 15-minute walk from Segovia Cathedral, slightly uphill.
• Tips:
• Buy tickets in advance if visiting during weekends or holidays.
• Don’t skip the tower climb—the views are spectacular.
• Bring a camera with a wide-angle lens—the exterior and views deserve it.
• Combine with a visit to the aqueduct and cathedral for a perfect day trip.

Timeless Arches Under the Sun – Afternoon at the Segovia Aqueduct
#summervacay #SegoviaAqueduct #RomanEngineering #SegoviaSpain #UNESCOWorldHeritage #HistoricSpain #SpainTravel #AncientArchitecture #DayTripFromMadrid #TravelBackInTime #StoneMarvels
I arrived at the Segovia Aqueduct in the afternoon, and even with the sun high and strong, it didn’t take away the magic—if anything, the sunlight sharpened the lines of this Roman masterpiece, casting dramatic shadows under each perfectly aligned arch.
Standing beneath this nearly 2,000-year-old structure, I was in awe of its scale and precision. Built without mortar, each massive stone has stayed perfectly in place for centuries. The plaza below was lively, with people strolling, enjoying late lunches, and snapping photos. I slowly walked along its length, appreciating how it gracefully cuts through the town, blending ancient power with modern charm.
Later, I climbed up the Postigo del Consuelo viewpoint, where I could see the aqueduct snake its way through the city. The view from up there was spectacular—especially under the bright afternoon sky.
This isn’t just a monument; it’s a statement of endurance and beauty.
Travel Tips & How to Get There:
• Best time to visit:
• Afternoon offers strong light and dramatic shadows—perfect for bold photography.
• Stay until golden hour if you can, as the changing light adds depth to your shots.
• How to get there:
• From Madrid, take a high-speed AVE train to Segovia-Guiomar (about 30 minutes).
• Then grab a local bus or short taxi ride to the old town where the aqueduct stands.
• Tips:
• Climb the stairs to the top viewpoint for panoramic photos.
• Wear comfortable shoes—the town has cobblestones and hilly spots.
• Pair your visit with Segovia’s Alcázar and Cathedral to round out your trip.

[A city where Roman heritage remains] A trip immersed in ancient romance at Segovia's Aqueduct✨
The Aqueduct, towering over the city of Segovia in central Spain, is amazing for its state of preservation and power, which makes it hard to believe it was built in Roman times!
The sight of the huge stone arches stretching into the sky is truly spectacular. No matter how many times you see it, you'll find yourself asking, "How did they make it!?"😲
When I actually visited, I was overwhelmed by its sudden presence in the center of the city, and I couldn't help but stop and look up. At night, it is lit up and enveloped in a fantastic atmosphere✨
It is about 30 minutes by train from Madrid. If you take a bus from Segovia Station to the old town, the Aqueduct will be right in front of you!
🎯Tips: The time when the morning light shines in is the best time for photos📸
You can't climb to the top of the Aqueduct, but the view from the nearby observation point "Mirador del Postigo" is amazing! A must-visit spot for history buffs, whether you're traveling alone or as a couple. If you want to experience the beauty and technology of ancient Rome, you should definitely go to Segovia!

Aqueduct of Segovia (Acueducto de Segovia) – A Roman Masterwork Sculpted by Time and Stone
#June Travel Support Fund
🏛️ The grandeur and state of preservation of architecture
The Roman aqueduct, a two-story arch structure standing proudly across the old city of Segovia, is approximately 728m long and 28.5m high, making it a natural starting point for your trip right from the entrance of the city. .
This structure, built around the 1st century, is made up of over 24,000 granite blocks, laid down by gravity and intricate combinations without mortar, and it is truly amazing that it has remained solid for nearly 2,000 years.
⸻
🧱 Roman waterway – the path of the water of life
This aqueduct, which brings water from the mountains near the town to the city, was designed as a route that connected the waterway for a distance of approximately 17km, and is like a ‘gigantic waterway sculpture’ that has preserved both historical function and aesthetics.
⸻
🎞️ The symbol of the central square – a space in a photograph where time has stopped
When passing through Plaza del Azoguejo, the scenery of hundreds of tons of stones forming an arch shape under your feet looks like a movie set.
When standing in the square, it is no exaggeration to say that the crowds passing between the arches, the small scenery of the surrounding cafes, and the photos taken in time are all in harmony.
⸻
⚙️ The story of elaborate composition and preservation
It is built with a double-layer structure with 167 arches, 75 on the bottom and 44 on the top.
Some of the arches were safely maintained after restoration work during the reign of Queen Isabella (15th century).
It was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985, and it still remains in excellent condition today through traffic restrictions and preservation work.
