It’s not a franchise, but rather seems like a family restaurant. They have private rooms incase you’d like to host a private gathering. It’s very well maintained , even the toilet is clean. ✨Highlights - When one orders the cheese 🧀 overload burger, they first deliver the burger with fries 🍟 by lift ( if upstairs, which I recommend), then the chef walks up to put the fresh melted cheese onto your burger 🍔 while you watch and drool 🤤 over it. I highly recommend potato wedges over the fries. 💰Avg. Price per Person - 89元 for the cheesy burger, which is the most expensive on the menu. Other simple but delicious burgers range from 50 to 70元. Taizhou in Jiangsu province is a small city with very few interesting spots. While there may not be much to do, FengCheng river scenic spot is most probably the main attraction of the city. WangHaiLou is a landmark in the area. The garden surrounding the pavilion is beautiful and lush! You can climb up the stairs in the pavilion to have a view of the river and the boats cruising on it. Nearby, a Qing Dynasty "lifting stone" weighing 450 pounds stands like a silent elder, bearing witness to stone locks' journey from military camps to the streets. What truly brought Taizhou stone locks to global fame was Wang Bingrong, hailed as the "King of Stone Locks." This septuagenarian has spent half his life dancing with stone locks. In 2014, at the age of 66, he set a Guinness World Record in Milan, Italy, by blindfolding himself and tossing an 80-pound stone lock 13 times, showcasing the power and legend of Taizhou stone locks to the world. As I approached, I saw a little boy in overalls pressing his nose against the display window until it flattened: "Mom, look! Those dolls are smiling at me!" The store was incredibly adorable. Mint-green walls paired with cloud-shaped lights, shelves stacked like building blocks, each cubby housing differently styled dolls. The most eye-catching was the rotating display at the center—twelve blind box dolls in ancient costumes twirled gracefully, their flowing sleeves making them seem like they'd stepped right out of a New Year's painting. Taizhou Qiao Garden, first built in the Ming Dynasty, is largely similar to Suzhou gardens, integrating classic elements such as pavilions, rockeries and ponds, and winding paths and corridors, embodying the "changing scenery with every step" design concept of Jiangnan gardens. Most of the buildings in the garden are in Ming and Qing style, with grey bricks and dark tiles, carved doors and windows, simple and elegant. The main buildings include halls, pavilions, studies, etc. The rockeries, ponds, and flowers and trees in the garden complement each other, with different scenery in each of the four seasons, especially beautiful with spring flowers and autumn red leaves. What impressed me most was the "Fu" character wall at the exit. A simple "Fu" character incorporates a lot of local intangible cultural heritage. Compared to Suzhou, Yangzhou, and Nanjing in Jiangsu, Taizhou is less well-known. On this trip to Taizhou, I found it to be a leisurely city full of happiness. Especially worth recommending is its breakfast cuisine: crab roe soup dumplings, crab meat buns, yangcao buns, wuding buns, as well as fish soup noodles, eel noodles, fish soup wontons, and more. The most highly recommended dish is the five-flavor hot shredded tofu, which is smooth and soft, leaving a fragrant taste in the mouth—truly exquisite. I've always wanted to check out the rapeseed flowers in the paddy fields of Xinghua, Taizhou, so I took the chance to visit Taizhou and nearby Changzhou for a five-day spring tour in Jiangnan. Day 1: Beijing - Changzhou, Museum, Qingguo Lane The Wenpu Hotel in Changzhou is amazing, with a great location. The building itself is a scenic spot, and the facilities and management are excellent. The breakfast even includes local snacks. Nearby is the old-chain Yinsi Noodle Restaurant, where the sweet and sour pork ribs have a strong Jiangnan flavor. At the Changzhou Museum, the town’s treasure, a Southern Song Dynasty vermilion lacquered makeup box, was surprisingly not on display, so I bought a fridge magnet as a consolation. However, other artifacts in the museum are also worth seeing. Qingguo Lane, known as the first lane of Jiangnan literati, has many attractions inside. The shops are lively, offering shrimp cakes, sesame cakes, tofu pudding, hairtail fish wontons, and a variety of snacks. You can easily spend half a day wandering here. Day 2: Tianning Temple, Dongpo Garden, Baolin Zen Temple, Banshan Bookstore At Hongmei Garden and Tianning Temple, unfortunately, the red plum blossoms had already withered, but Tianning Temple was bustling with incense offerings. The old tea house Haitangchun was less crowded in the afternoon, so I had an early evening tea there. The buns were exquisite, the fish soup noodles fresh, and the fried stinky tofu tasty. Day 4: Xinghua Duotian Rapeseed Flowers, Water Forest A day tour in Xinghua: you can buy a combined ticket for the paddy field rapeseed flowers and the Li Zhong Water Forest, which includes boat and bamboo raft rides, making it quite cost-effective. The rapeseed flowers are very photogenic, and the water forest is even more beautiful, like entering a fairyland. In Xinghua city, I visited the former residence of Zheng Banqiao, a very small courtyard next to the Zhuangyuan Square. I ate at a local restaurant with home-style meatballs, eel, and tiger shark, all very fresh. It is said that Xinghua’s morning tea is also delicious. Day 5: Taizhou Morning Tea, Taizhou Museum, Liuyuan I went to Huibinlou for morning tea, recommended by the hotel staff. It was not crowded, the environment was comfortable, and it felt a bit like Cantonese morning tea. The buns were bigger than those at Haitangchun, and the lotus root starch balls were very distinctive. A tour of Taizhou Museum showed the tomb of the Ming Dynasty couple Xu Fan and his wife, exhibiting two complete mummies that are lifelike. Finally, I took a walk in Liuyuan opposite the hotel, which houses the Liu Jingtian Storytelling and Talk Museum, focusing on collecting various materials in this field, which was quite interesting. In the evening, I took the train back to Beijing. Originally named Maitreya Monastery, Jingye Temple is located on North Street of Jiangyan Town. During the Yixi era of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, it was rebuilt as Jingye Chan Temple. For centuries, it has been a thriving center of worship with resonant Buddhist chants, attracting devotees and literati from all directions. The Jingye Temple we see today is a reconstruction situated on the eastern highlands of Jiangyan Town's southern outskirts. Facing south, the temple complex consists of four main halls arranged in sequence: the Mountain Gate Hall, Heavenly King Hall, Grand Buddha Hall, and Guanyin Hall, all enshrining Buddhist deities according to traditional temple conventions. The temple appears not yet fully completed. At dusk when darkness approaches, the entire compound stands empty and somewhat desolate.
