Summer hot springs can be difficult because they are hot, but it is different when it rains. It has a charm and is not too hot, so it is good. If you like to soak your body in hot spring water, I recommend it! I stayed at 'Wataya Besso' in Ureshino and was satisfied. The locals said that the accommodation was number one in this town. The location is about 15 minutes on foot from Ureshino Bus Center. If you have a hotel reservation, ask the bus center staff for the hotel shuttle bus, and the winter bus will come! It was convenient because the shuttle bus came whenever you called, not at a set time. Unlike other hotels, I was able to check in right away when I arrived early, which was really nice! (Early check-in about 2 hours) The room was a traditional Japanese tatami room, and it was a little old, but I went there considering that, so it was okay for me! (Analog sensibility🌟) I was very satisfied with the large public bath and women's open-air bath! There are paid facilities, but the free facilities were sufficient. Fairfield by Marriott Saga Ureshino Onsen. Located in front of Ureshino Onsen Station, the hotel feels like a Marriott accommodation dedicated to room-only stays. It's a relatively new hotel and very clean! The common area on the lobby floor is spacious, and it's okay to eat food purchased from outside stores. A nice touch is the free miso soup, even though it's instant. Coffee and other beverages are also available. Although it's in a hot spring town, the hotel doesn't have its own hot spring, so you'll need to go to an external bath. I went to Ureshino Onsen Hotel Kasuien in Ureshino, Saga Prefecture. Super Convenient Transportation: From Takeo Onsen, it was a mere 6-minute Shinkansen ride to Ureshino Onsen – incredibly convenient and practically at my fingertips! Since I had a rail pass, it felt like the perfect side trip to enjoy a beautiful hot spring soak before heading refreshed to my next destination. I also found that the Shinkansen ride from Nagasaki to Ureshino Onsen took less than half an hour, so I realized it's an excellent choice for a day-trip onsen experience too. One of Japan's Top 3 "Beautiful Skin" Onsens: Ureshino Onsen is renowned for its unique water quality and is celebrated as one of Japan's top three "beautiful skin" hot springs. The onsen water is rich in sodium bicarbonate, which is said to be highly effective at removing dead skin cells, leaving your skin incredibly smooth and soft. As someone who appreciates skincare, this was a true blessing! Strolling the Onsen Town: I took a casual stroll through Ureshino's onsen town, and my impression was very positive. Although it was about a half-hour walk from Ureshino Onsen JR Station to the main onsen town, the path took me along the historic "Nagasaki Kaido". This old road was a crucial trade route connecting Nagasaki to Kokura during the Edo period, so it felt quite steeped in history. While I didn't find anything particularly stunning during my walk itself, it was still interesting to feel the echoes of history. Of course, I noticed there are also buses connecting the station to the town if you prefer not to walk. Breakfast Detour: When I arrived, I looked for a place to grab breakfast to fuel up. It seemed like the only place serving breakfast around there was just this one "shokudo" (diner). They were very generous with the ingredients, but I found the noodles to be just okay. I actually noticed that what other people were eating (rice dishes) looked much more appetizing, so if I go again, I might choose to try their rice-based meals! This hotel tends to arrange high-end groups to stay in Shuimingsou, so I would not consider booking it again based on the content of this stay.
