Chenzhou is a beautiful city with many scenic spots. Besides the popular Gaoyiling, Xiaodong River Scenic Area is also a must-visit. To help visitors better enjoy the riverside scenery, the scenic area has several walking trails. The most classic route is from Station 3 to Station 4. Walking along the path, you can enjoy the fresh air and the mist floating on the water, creating a dreamy atmosphere. Occasionally, you might even spot some butterflies 🦋 and small animals. Dongjiang Lake is a huge area with tons of things to see, do and explore. When entering you can buy tickets which include bus and boat and rafting tickets. The bus takes you past a dam and to the main area with restaurants and shops. You can then walk to some of the waterfalls and shorter paths. The boat from there takes you to the island after a 20 min cruise where you can do more walks or go into the huge limestone karst cave which you can see in my pictures is truly spectacular. There is an option of white water rafting on the other side of the lake which I didn't try. The cave was the biggest highlight for me, it was cool and damp and the paths lead you up and down and around the maze like cave for about a 20-30 minute walk. There are bats on the ceiling and huge limestone features everywhere lit up by multicoloured lights. It's like an alien world and something that no pictures do justice. The cave is very large and at the end of the path you can buy souvenirs. In dongjiang lake I would recommend trying some local small spicy fish snacks. #mountainview #staycation

Three days were fleeting, yet Chenzhou carved a 3D landscape scroll in my heart—its danxia bones, misty riversoul, and grassy dreams. Was it worth it? The foggy Little East River and cloud-sea memories clutched tight on my journey home betrayed the answer.

Chenzhou, a city you'll want to visit again and again. The air quality index at Dongjiang Lake in the morning is absolutely fantastic—a natural oxygen bar. Watch the fishermen cast their nets on time, take a leisurely stroll, and as the mist clears, you'll be greeted by bright sunshine and a stunning blue lake. After exploring Xiaodong River, head to Dongfanghong to try their salmon—you'll regret not eating more! Next, visit Chenzhou's version of Erhai Lake, where you'll find breathtaking views of blue skies and vast waters. The refreshing breeze is incredibly soothing, and whether you're riding an electric bike or driving along the coastline, the scenery is simply mesmerizing. In the evening, wander through Yuhou Street to soak up the local atmosphere. Yangtianhu Grassland was a special trip, but the winding mountain roads and uncooperative weather left us disappointed—expensive tickets and rough roads, so keep an eye on the forecast. For Gaoyiling, enter from the west gate and plan for over two hours of exploration; if you love taking photos, add another two hours. Chenzhou has just three or four classic attractions, and visiting one per day is ideal. Next time, I'd love to visit Mangshan Mountain—I've heard it's amazing too! 😊

| A Homestay Under the Rainbow. I spent three blissful days at Xiyan Lake Hidden Among Pines Homestay, where the view outside my window left me speechless every single day! Waking up to golden sunrise🌅 slowly rising over Dongjiang Lake, painting the entire room in orange soda hues; watching the moon climb up pine branches🎑 at dusk, its shimmering reflection dancing on the lake surface. But the most magical moment? A post-rain afternoon when a rainbow🌈 arched perfectly across the opposite lakeshore, as if adding a dreamy filter to this landscape painting! Every corner of this homestay delights! The floor-to-ceiling window teahouse in my room became my afternoon sanctuary, where I'd gaze at drifting clouds with tea snacks. The ground-floor restaurant serves Dongjiang fish so fresh it'll make your eyebrows jump! Before leaving, I even scored some peaches gifted by the homestay - freshly picked from the kitchen auntie's orchard, crisp and sweet as morning dew!
