A Hidden Gem with Serious Charm

Perched on a hill above the Kiso River, the view from the top is epic, especially at sunset when the whole town below starts to glow. The castle itself is Japan’s oldest surviving wooden castle tower, so it’s got this authentic, old-school vibe that you don’t always get at more polished tourist spots. Inside, you can check out the original wooden beams and narrow staircases, which give you a real feel for what life must’ve been like back in the day. The surrounding area is pretty chill too, with temples and nice walking paths. If you’re in the Aichi area and want a more peaceful, less touristy castle experience, Inuyama Castle is totally worth the visit. It’s simple but stunning.
