#discoverchina Tianchi (meaning “Heavenly Lake”) is a name given to several scenic lakes in China, with the most famous one being Changbai Mountain Tianchi in Jilin Province. This crater lake, located at an altitude of about 2,189 meters on the border between China and North Korea, is known for its breathtaking blue waters, dramatic volcanic landscape, and mystical legends. Another well-known Tianchi is Tianshan Tianchi in Xinjiang, a glacial lake surrounded by the snow-capped peaks of the Tianshan Mountains, offering stunning alpine scenery. Both lakes are popular tourist destinations, attracting visitors for their natural beauty, cultural significance, and hiking opportunities.
