One-Day Tour of Aswan

Aswan, a city in Upper Egypt 🇪🇬, is considered the birthplace of ancient Egypt and is home to the Nubian people. Nowadays, it seems to be treated as a transit point for travelers. Compared to Luxor, which is full of temples, Aswan appears dilapidated. I spent two days in Aswan, and the itinerary felt very relaxed. It's a good transit spot. 📍One-day tour itinerary First stop: Philae Temple 💰550 🚗City center to the temple: taxi 150 🚢Ticket office to the temple: They asked for an exorbitant price, starting at 500 per person. There were three of us, and the boat fare was almost the same as the ticket price. We'd rather not go to the temple than be ripped off, so we turned to leave. Another person came up to us and we settled on 400 for all three of us. 📌The temple's student ID check was the strictest in all of Egypt. Both a student ID and passport were required to prove age. 📷(Picture 7) Photo spot Second stop: Nubian Village 🚗Temple to Nubian Village: We used indrive to book a taxi on the spot for 110. We passed the Aswan High Dam on the way and were able to see it from a distance. The village is dusty, and along the main road by the Nile River are colorful houses, mainly blue, reflecting the Nubians' enthusiasm for life. 🍚We had lunch in the village. There are many delicious and photogenic restaurants. I recommend (Pictures 11-12) Dolty Kato Nubain House (by Kato Dool), which is right next to the pier. 400 per person. 🚢Return trip to the city: You can choose indrive or take a boat. Bargaining with Egyptians is really tiring. We finally settled on 400, which is more expensive than what I saw online, but the experience was very good. The boatman was very nice, and we watched the sunset from the boat. 🍚Al-Rayah Market is a good place to buy meat and vegetables. Alternatively, try King Jamaica restaurant & Cafe and breakfast (Ayman Jamaica) on Elephantine Island. The food is delicious. 🏨Accommodation | I recommend Elephantine Island. The hotels in the city near the pier are not cost-effective, and the surrounding environment is poor. The pier (Picture 19) offers convenient transportation between Elephantine Island and the city center. Public boats are available 24/7, every half hour from midnight to 6am. If you're in a hurry, arrange a time with the boatman in advance. During the day, it's 10 per person, and at night, it's 50 per person. Hotel: The Green Nubian Guest House, 100 meters from the Elephantine Island pier. The owner lives downstairs, and the guests are upstairs, with a separate entrance. It's a two-bedroom apartment with a living room, a balcony, and a kitchen. The living room and balcony are very spacious, overlooking the entire pier. The kitchen is available for cooking. City center to airport: For a 7am flight, the hotel helped us book a taxi for $10. indrive would be cheaper.
