Awaji Yumebutai was completed in 2000 as a project to regenerate the nature of Awaji Island, led by architect Tadao Ando. The vast grounds are filled with flowers and greenery, and are home to birds and small animals. They include a hotel, restaurant, international conference center, outdoor theater, botanical garden, park, flower beds, and fountains. Awaji Yumebutai was created with the hope that visitors will be able to feel the richness of nature that is often overlooked in everyday life, and to raise environmental awareness.
