Smoky BBQ, Balinese Soul

Benesari in Kuta, Warung Ayu BBQ Pork Ribs & Indonesian Food was an eatery I stumbled upon when doing my laundry; otherwise it’s at the back of the Main Street, which rendered it rather hard to discover. It is yet a delightful find for those craving authentic flavors without the frills. The unassuming exterior belies the culinary treasures within. The particular menu that drew me in was squid satay, which was sadly unavailable during my visit. But the other signature BBQ set of theirs, which include a medium portion pork ribs plus chicken, did not disappoint—tender, well-marinated (with a sweet glaze), and cooked to perfection, allowing the natural flavors of the meat to shine through. And unlike other places which did the grilling on charcoal, this place did it on modern stove, which is in some ways healthier (coz it involves less soot).
