Wat Chalo, Nonthaburi

#NearBangkok attractions Ancient site of Wat Chalo is located in Tambon Chalo, Amphoe Bang Kruai, Nonthaburi Province. The history of the temple is not clear, but there is a story that this temple was built since the late Ayutthaya period, around the year 2275 B.E. in the reign of King Borommakot. As for the word "Chalo", the community in this area said that it may have come from the past when Khlong Bang Kruai and Khlong Bangkok Noi, which flanked it to the north and east, had strong currents and frequent boat accidents. Therefore, there was a sign that said "I'm waiting" later it was distorted to "Chalo". Important things in the temple include the chapel inside which is enshrined a Buddha statue in the Mara-Vijaya attitude as the main building. The base of the chapel has a curved shape called "the hull of a junk". There are 8 sema bases around it. There are 2 chedis in front of the chapel.
