A 60-minute walk around the Democracy Monument, the symbol of the Constitutional Revolution, and its surrounding area

[Summary] The Democracy Monument, standing in the center of Ratchadamnoen Klang Road, is a monument completed in 1940 to commemorate the 1932 Constitutional Revolution. The four wings symbolize the army, navy, air force and police of the time, and the constitution pedestal housed in the central red door tower represents the foundation of popular sovereignty. When I visited on a weekday morning in late January 2025, there were many vehicles but the sidewalks were wide, so I was able to enjoy sightseeing and photography safely. [Access] A 10-minute walk from Exit 2 of MRT Sam Yot Station. About 8 minutes by taxi from BTS National Stadium Station (around 40 THB). There are many one-way streets in the area, so it is convenient to use a car dispatch app on the way back. [Attractions] 📍The front with the stairs is the only photo spot where you can capture the wings and tower in perfect symmetry. At 9 a.m., the light is coming from behind, and the shadows of the marble reliefs stand out. 📍The official information board explains in both English and Japanese why the 1.3km-long Ratchadamnoen Klang Street is called the "Champs-Élysées of Thailand." Understanding the historical background before viewing the tower will give you a deeper understanding. 📍The tree-lined street has a bicycle lane leading to the Grand Palace, and there are many shady areas, making it easy to stroll around even in the middle of the day. 📍At the long-established cafe "SKY HIGH" on Dinso Road, you can get a bird's-eye view of the tower from the glass-walled second floor seats, and their specialty iced lemon tea costs 60 THB. [Experience Highlights] The Thai Bus Food Tour departs from in front of the tower and takes you around the old town in 70 minutes.
