Take the Sant Joan Funicular Railway to enjoy an impressive panoramic view of Montserrat from 1,000 meters above sea level. The climb on the Sant Joan Funicular is an unforgettable trip with a maximum gradient of 65% and a distance of 503 meters. The new viewpoint, located at the upper station of the cable car itself, at nearly 1,000 meters above sea level, offers a perfect view of the mountains and houses an interpretation center of the Central Catalonia Geopark and the Montserrat Mountain Natural Park. This space presents the history of the characteristic mountain of Montserrat, as well as its climatic conditions, flora and fauna. At the top, starting from the Tarantula Plain, visitors can take part in a number of signposted excursions or walks, varying in difficulty and duration, suitable for all visitors. The Sant Joan Montserrat Cable Car was inaugurated in 1918 to connect the outside of the monastery to the Hermitage of Sant Joan, located in the upper part of the mountain where the viewpoint is also located.
