The commanding heights of the Summer Palace

The Tower of Buddhist Incense is the highest point in the Summer Palace. Because it is located on a hill, it can be clearly seen from inside the Summer Palace and is the most recognizable landmark. If I had the time I would love to climb it. The view of the Tower of Buddhist Incense opposite Kunming Lake is also a beautiful memory. . We entered the Summer Palace from the North Gate, crossed Suzhou Market Street (left after the entrance), and followed Longevity Hill to reach the tower. It's a fairly large climb but not suitable for those with limited mobility. Once there you can enjoy a panoramic view of the entire area over the lake from there, the tower itself is worth seeing but the best part is the view of Kunming Lake. We went there on a clear and unpolluted day so the views were amazing. Going down is a long flight of stone steps which I suspect might be slippery on a wet day as there are no handrails so be careful.
