Beitou | Suyejia: Experiencing Farm Life in the City

I've always wanted to let my kids experience farm life, and this time I found an egg-collecting activity that seemed super interesting, so we signed up! Finally, we arrived at Suyejia. The environment here was much cleaner than I expected—no bad smells or chicken droppings everywhere, making it very comfortable. The instructor shared many stories about hens during the class, making me realize how tough and pitiful their lives can be. We also learned how to pick fresh eggs, which was quite an eye-opener. After the class, the kids got to mix chicken feed and then prepared to feed the chickens. It was a bit chaotic as a flock of chickens rushed over, and the kids were a bit flustered, but luckily my two were quite calm. After feeding the chickens, we started collecting eggs. Each child could collect two eggs from the henhouse and then return to the classroom to clean the eggshells, completing a super fun experience! Being able to feed chickens and collect eggs in the city is truly special! We cooked the eggs as soon as we got home—they were incredibly fresh and delicious. Thankfully, the classroom also sold eggs, so we had more to enjoy!
