Memorial Hall for Independence Activists in the Heart of the City

Located in Nampo-dong, the Baeksan Memorial Hall is a small exhibition space established to commemorate independence activist Ahn Hee-jae. It is highly recommended for those who wish to quietly reflect on the significance of history. The memorial hall consists of a ground floor and a basement level. While the exhibition is not large in scale, it is thoughtfully curated. In particular, it was a meaningful experience to learn about the role of Baeksan Sanghoe and Baeksan Trading Company in funding the independence movement, as well as the history of the independence movement in modern Busan. The stories of various independence activists are presented through photos, artifacts, and videos, which were deeply moving. The detailed and vivid materials, which are not easily accessible in everyday life, left a strong impression. With the addition of a guide's explanation, visitors can gain a deeper understanding of the historical context and the determination of the individuals involved. The interior, though slightly aged, is clean and allows for a quiet and solemn exploration. Nearby attractions such as Yongdusan Park, the Busan Cinema Experience Museum, and various cafes are within walking distance, making it a great spot for a leisurely visit.
