Grand Mercure Ambassador Changwon Black & White Deluxe (Double Bed Room)

To visit the newly opened Starbucks Reserve R store, Changwon NC Park R, I decided to stay overnight in Changwon. Since the Starbucks is located inside the baseball stadium and the game starts at 5 PM, ending after 8 PM, staying overnight in Changwon seemed like a better option. Without looking for other options, I booked this hotel. It is part of the Accor Group chain, which also operates Mercure in Hongdae and Grand Mercure in Yongsan domestically. I have previously stayed at Mercure in Hongdae and at Mercure hotels in Japan, where they are referred to as "Mercure" in Japanese-style English. My stays included locations like Okinawa, Narita, and Nagoya. Initially, the Changwon hotel opened as Pullman but later rebranded to Mercure. Similarly, Pullman in Jangchung-dong, Seoul, was renovated and reopened as The Ambassador Seoul. I booked a room-only stay without breakfast. The hotel is a sizable 4-star property with over 300 rooms, and my stay was on the second day of the three-day Memorial Day weekend. Breakfast is priced at 31,000 KRW without any discounts for guests, so I opted not to use this service. The hotel operates an executive lounge. The swimming pool and sauna are free for club room guests, while regular guests are charged 22,000 KRW. Guest rooms are located between the 6th and 18th floors, and I was assigned a room on the 7th floor. The room features two double beds in a Hollywood-style arrangement, occupying about one-third of the room. There is a long business table and a sofa of similar length. The leather furniture is quite worn, and the sofa lacks cushioning, sinking significantly. Overall, the room condition feels outdated. The view includes mountains and village scenery, but the windows do not open. On the 4th and 5th floors, there is a rooftop garden surrounding the Grand Hall, which is great for walking. Hydrangeas were just starting to bloom, and once fully bloomed, they would provide a lovely view from the rooms. It takes about 25 minutes by bus or 10 minutes by taxi to reach Changwon Central Station. Next to the hotel is Changwon The City Mall, which houses a CGV cinema and Lotte Mart. There is a café on the 40th floor of the adjacent building. When I visited at 10 PM, it was nearly full. The atmosphere felt more like a food court than a place for drinking. Thank you.
