Phra That Chom Chan, Chiang Rai Province Phra Khru Ba Thip, the abbot of Wat Ban Laew, built it in 1910. He saw a vision one night of a light shooting up into the sky, shining brightly with green light on the mountain where the chedi is located. After a while, it disappeared. The next morning, Phra Khru Ba Thip invited a novice monk to go up and inspect the top of the mountain. He saw that it was an extremely suitable place to build a chedi because the mountain was surrounded by a moat dug by ancient people, and it was not connected to any other nearby mountains. He invited relatives and devotees to join in building the chedi.
