Wat Phra That Pha Ngao, pay homage to Luang Pho Pha Ngao

The word Pha Ngao means the shadow of a large cliff or rock, which is similar to a pagoda. When the sun shines through the rock, it creates a large shadow. The villagers therefore called it Phra That Pha Ngao. 🏡In the past, the temple was called Wat Sop Kham, located on the bank of the Mekong River. Later, it collapsed due to the force of the water current. The villagers therefore built a new temple, which was far from the original location. In 1976, the area around the temple was renovated. While digging out the large tree stump, they found ancient bricks lined up. 🙏When the bricks were removed, they found a mask blocking it. When the mask was removed, they found a Buddha statue that was approximately 700-1,300 years old. Therefore, the Buddha statue that was excavated was called Luang Pho Pha Ngao. Interesting things in the temple include: 🏰Luang Pho Pha Ngao Shrine, inside which is the Luang Pho Pha Ngao Buddha statue. 🛕Phra That Pha Ngao is located on a large rock. 🏰Ho Phra Borommachan Maha Ratcha Phutthirangsan Inside, there is a monument of King Mangrai and portraits of the royal family, including important people who visited Wat Phra That Pha Ngao. 🛕 Phra That Chom Chan, currently only the remains of the pagoda. 🏰 Ubosot, a wooden building carved with golden teak, Lan Xang architecture mixed with Lanna. Inside, there is Phra Chiang Saen Singh 1, the principal Buddha image, with beautiful Buddha characteristics and mural paintings of the life of the Buddha. 🛕 Phra Borommathat Phutthanimit Chedi, located on the top of the hill, is a large pagoda built to cover the seven-spire pagoda with only the remains of the base left, and there are mural paintings about the life of Queen Chamadevi. 🌄 Skywalk Pha Ngao 3 Reigns is an octagonal glass bridge, 25 meters high, with a walkway with laminated safety glass and metal floors.
