Macau Coloane Street Photography

Coloane (Portuguese: Coloane), formerly known as Salt Bay, Salt Furnace Bay, Kowloon Island or Grandma's Tail, is named after the Kowloon Bay Bay in the northeast corner and the island's Kowloon Hill. In addition, the Portuguese name of Lo Wan is thought to be phonetically translated from the ancient Cantonese name of the island, "Guo Lu Wan". It is now a part of Macau and one of the four major parts (regions) that make up Macau. Because most of the island is undeveloped, rich in vegetation and beautiful scenery, Lo Wan is known as Macau’s last back garden. The area above the halfway point of Mount Taishitang, the highest peak on Luhuan Island, is classified as a country park and Mazu Cultural Village and is strictly protected. Lo Wan was originally a separate island, the northern coastline along Shek Pai Wan Road to the east shore of Ying Shan Lake, due to long-term reclamation, is now integrated with Taipa, and the area between the two islands due to reclamation is now Cotai City.
