Climbing Dalian’s Dahei Mountain: A Journey Above the Sea and Sky

Dahei Mountain, located in Jinzhou District of Dalian, is the highest peak in southern Liaoning. With its lush forests, winding trails, and breathtaking sea views, climbing Dahei Mountain is both an adventure and a peaceful escape. I started my hike in the early morning, when the mist still lingered in the valleys and birds sang from the treetops. The stone steps led me through quiet woods, past ancient temples and pavilions tucked between the rocks. As I climbed higher, the trees opened up to reveal stunning views of Dalian’s coastline and the distant sea. One of the most memorable spots was the Guanyin Pavilion, where a statue of the Bodhisattva overlooks the hills and ocean. The air was calm and cool, and the sound of wind through the pines created a moment of pure peace. The final stretch to the summit was steep but rewarding. Standing at the top, I felt like I was above both the city and the sea. The view was wide and open—rolling green mountains, blue sky, and the sparkle of the Yellow Sea far below. After the descent, I enjoyed a simple local meal—fresh seafood and Dalian-style pancakes—at a small village near the foot of the mountain. Climbing Dahei Mountain isn’t just about reaching the top. It’s about the quiet moments, the changing scenery, and the deep sense of calm that nature gives you along the way. A must-do for anyone visiting Dalian.
