Phonchai Temple, Loei Province

It is a temple of Dan Sai district, Loei province. It has a large and beautiful Ubosot with its own unique style, which is in the Lan Xang Luang Prabang art style. Inside the Ubosot, there are murals, which are newly painted about 14-15 years ago. They are stories about Phra Wessantara and the Phi Ta Khon tradition. The principal Buddha image in the Ubosot is a Buddha in the meditation posture, called Phra Chao Yai or Luang Pho Yai. It is an ancient and very sacred Buddha image, which is similar to the Lan Xang Luang Prabang art style.
