Phi Ta Khon Festival

Phi Ta Khon is a festival held in Dan Sai District, Loei Province, located in the northeastern region of Thailand. The festival takes place in the 7th month, often spanning more than three days at some point between March and July. The specific dates are chosen each year by the town's medium. This local merit-making tradition is known as Bun Luang. The Phi Ta Khon tradition has been practiced for so long that it has become a unique identity of Loei Province. It is part of the Bun Luang festival, which includes Bun Phawet and Bun Bang Fai, and is considered a worship of the city's guardian spirits and a tribute to sacred spirits. The festival is held only once a year.
