Zen Journey at Dongtai Taishan Temple

Dongtai Taishan Temple is located on Taishan Avenue in the Xixi Scenic Area of Dongtai City, Jiangsu Province, and is a national 2A-level scenic spot. The temple was originally built during the Jiading period of the Southern Song Dynasty (1208–1224), boasting a history of approximately 800 years. The existing structures have been reconstructed based on architectural styles from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The temple features major buildings such as the Hall of Heavenly Kings, the Mahavira Hall, the Jade Buddha Pavilion, and the Bixia Palace. The statues enshrined within are solemn and exquisite. Additionally, historical relics such as Tianfei Mountain, the ancient Ganlu Spring well, remnants of steles, and old ginkgo trees behind the Dizang Hall are worth exploring. A highlight is the grand ceremony held on March 28 during the Bixia Yuanjun Temple Fair, which attracts numerous devotees and tourists. On regular days, monks chant scriptures in the morning and evening, creating a tranquil atmosphere that helps visitors find inner peace. Admission is 10 yuan, and the opening hours are from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM from January to June and November to December, and from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM from July to October. The temple is easily accessible by car, with parking facilities available nearby.
