Fujairah — an Oriental-style retreat that stole my heart

On my birthday the team surprised me with a mini show and a personalised cake at dinner—classy and memorable. • Impeccable rooms & grounds Tiles shine, gardens are manicured, corridors smell of jasmine; it feels brand-new throughout. A birthday detour to Dubai The big-city contrast was perfect: a 90-minute drive over desert and mountain brought us from calm Fujairah to Dubai’s megamalls for celebratory shopping. Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa. Sunset back at Miramar with toes in the ocean reminded us why we’d chosen the quieter coast for the rest of the week. Quick pointers 1. Book sea-view if you can—sunrise over the ocean is worth the upgrade. 2. Transfers Hotel shuttles run to Dubai Mall several times a week; reserve a seat early. 3.
