Qingcheng Mountain Xiuyan Guesthouse

In 2002, I found my true home in the back mountains of Qingcheng. After graduating from college, I returned to my hometown and, with the help of my family, invested a seven-figure sum to open this guesthouse, naming it "Xiuyan." The inspiration for "Xiuyan" comes from a character in the classic novel *Dream of the Red Chamber*. I hope to be like her—finding peace in a chaotic world and having a happy ending. "Xiu" represents the essence of the mountains, while "Yan" symbolizes the misty clouds. After a rain, when the skies clear, Qingcheng Mountain is often shrouded in mist, exuding an ethereal charm. This is the essence of "Xiuyan," a name that conveys a sense of poetic beauty to my guests. After returning to the mountains, getting coffee wasn’t as convenient, so I bought a coffee machine and slowly taught myself how to make it. I spend my days wandering through the vegetable garden my father tends, enjoying home-cooked meals prepared by my mother. I designed the guesthouse myself, and with the help of my family, we built it together. From winter to summer, I watched the plants grow lush, and by mid-July, the guesthouse officially opened. Life in the mountains is more work than leisure. Although it’s more exhausting than a regular job, I find joy in the company of cats and dogs, listening to the chirping of cicadas and birds, and watching flowers bloom and wither in the courtyard. Creating a space that fulfills my heart’s desires makes all the hard work worthwhile. Running a guesthouse is like this—using your own way of life to attract guests.
