Foraging Adventure in Finnish National Park 🇫🇮 🍓🍄🌲

#springwander Nothing beats the simple joy of wandering through a Finnish national park, basket in hand, searching for wild treasures. This time, we headed to Hollola, a hidden gem for berry and mushroom hunting, and it turned out to be such a rewarding experience! 🍓 A True Finnish Outdoor Tradition Foraging is a big part of Finnish culture, and thanks to the “Everyman’s Right” (Jokamiehenoikeus), anyone can roam freely in nature and collect wild berries and mushrooms. The best part? You can go berry and mushroom hunting in almost every Finnish national park! Each season brings something different—from juicy bilberries and lingonberries to golden chanterelles and porcini mushrooms. 🍄 Mushroom & Berry Hunting in the Deep Forest Walking along the quiet trails, we were surrounded by towering pine trees, soft moss-covered ground, and the crisp scent of fresh air. Soon, we spotted bright red lingonberries, juicy bilberries, and even a few wild raspberries hidden among the bushes. The real challenge was finding edible mushrooms! With patience (and double-checking with a mushroom guide), we picked some chanterelles and porcini, which are perfect for cooking a delicious autumn meal. The excitement of spotting a golden chanterelle under the leaves was so satisfying! 🌲 More Than Just Foraging Aside from berry picking, the scenic forest paths made for a peaceful hike. Many Finnish national parks have well-marked trails, beautiful lakes, and firepit areas, making them perfect for a day trip. Along the way, we stumbled upon a lakeside spot, took a break, and enjoyed the quiet nature around us. 🔥 Ending the Day Right To wrap up the trip, we found a firepit area (which is common in Finnish national parks!) and roasted some snacks while chatting about our finds. There’s something special about spending time in nature, breathing in the fresh air, and enjoying the simple pleasures of the forest. If you’re ever in Finland during late summer or early autumn, foraging is an experience you don’t want to miss. Whether you're in Hollola, Nuuksio, or any other Finnish national park, you’ll find plenty of wild treats waiting to be discovered! 🍂 #finnishnature #foraginginfinland #berrypicking #mushroomhunting #hollola #outdooradventures #nationalparks #sustainableliving
