Florence's Piazzale Michelangelo and the Church of San Miniato al Monte

The view from Piazzale Michelangelo was what made me realize what it truly means to be mesmerized. Although I had been to Florence twice before, I never ventured to Piazzale Michelangelo during my short stays, as it seemed too far away. Once I beheld the beautiful brick-colored city of Florence from here, I regretted not knowing this view before. I highly recommend it over climbing the Duomo. The gentle staircase that extends to the left from Via del Monte alle Croci is long but not steep. Along the way, the sight of cypress and olive groves makes for a very pleasant walk. And when you come to Piazzale Michelangelo, you must visit one of Florence's oldest churches, the Church of San Miniato al Monte. It's simply wonderful. A couple who had just gotten married were busy posing for commemorative photos, but the facade of the church, with its geometric patterns in white and green marble, is striking. This Florentine Romanesque style is a typical example of the Romanesque style that developed in Florence. It looks like a pattern drawn by a child, but it's charming and eye-catching. The colorful coffered ceiling and the clean-patterned marble arches are magnificent. The crypt, called the Cripta, is a solemn place of prayer located in the lower back. It was also interesting to see the 38 slender columns evenly spaced, resembling a planted forest. Both the exterior and interior of the church are stunningly beautiful. Florence is decidedly smaller compared to Rome. However, the achievements of the Medici family are significant, and there are many sights to see.
