Shikanoumijinja Shrine ⛩️ 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃 Shikanoumijinja Shrine is located on Shikanoshima Island in Fukuoka Prefecture. The deity worshipped here is Watatsumi Sanshin, a deity that protects everything below, in, and above the sea. It is known as the "head shrine of the sea gods" and has been revered as the guardian deity of Hakata Bay, a key point in maritime traffic. It is also known as the "City of Dragons" where dragon gods gather. At Shikanoumijinja Shrine, it is customary to purify one's body with purifying sand called Oshioi before worshipping. There is also a shioi at the entrance to the torii gate ⛩️! The shrine grounds also feature a torii gate marked as a place of remote worship and a turtle-like rock 🪨. It is said that this shrine worships Otake Shrine and Otake Shrine. Looking out to the other side, there is a wonderful view of the ocean 🌊.
