Steep, Sweaty, and So Dang Worth It

#summervacay Okay, Chiaksan’s (1288m) is no joke, it’s a full-on hike, not a cute little nature walk. Started in Wonju and the trail was like, “Hope you stretched!” Pretty much straight-up from the start, with rocky climbs, steep stairs, and a few ropes to help you not slide down to your doom. But if you like your hikes with a side of challenge, this one’s for you. The forest is gorgeous though, super lush, shady, and full of that earthy, mountain smell. You pass cool little temples, streams, and rock formations along the way, so even when your legs are screaming, there’s stuff to distract you. And that summit? Birobong totally delivers. Big open sky, ridgelines for days, and that crisp mountain air that makes you forget how much you just suffered. Definitely bring good shoes, snacks, and your best “I got this” mindset. Birobong is tough love, but the views and vibe make every drop of sweat totally worth it.
