Zengcheng Taizikeng Forest Park is a comprehensive eco-tourism and leisure destination built on a forest farm. At the top of the mountain at an altitude of 470 meters, a 270-degree frameless glass guardrail observation deck was newly built in recent years. The wide field of view provides tourists with an excellent perspective to appreciate the natural beauty of the undulating mountains, the winding Zengjiang River, and the rising and setting sun. Why is it called "Taizikeng"? According to legend, there was a temple dedicated to Nezha on the mountain, and Nezha was also called "the Third Prince", hence the name "Taizikeng", and it is also called "Taishikeng". There is no temple on the top of the mountain now, but there are two buildings: one is the Dongshan Tower next to the observation deck, a two-story ancient-style pavilion; the other is the lookout tower, a three-story white building that requires climbing a flight of stone steps to reach. This is a free leisure park and a great place for a light hike. From the foot of the mountain to the top, the entire route is a winding cement road that winds up the hill all the way. Some sections have steeper slopes, but there are many tree-lined roads along the way, so you can walk and rest a bit and reach the top in 1-2 hours. It is much easier to go down the mountain. It is downhill all the way and if you go fast, it will take 30 to 40 minutes to reach the entrance. Please note that tourists are not allowed to drive up the mountain but can park in the parking lot at the foot of the mountain. There are no street lights on the hiking trails, so don't go down the mountain too late. It is recommended to bring lighting equipment. There are only toilets at the foot and top of the mountain; there are no shops along the way, so be prepared with supplies. It is indeed remote from downtown Guangzhou, about 60 to 70 kilometers away, so it is more convenient to drive by yourself. Public transportation takes a long time: Take Metro Line 21 to Zengcheng Square Station Exit E, cross the road to Zengcheng Square West Bus Station diagonally opposite, take Zengcheng Line 17 and get off at Taizikeng Bus Station for 11 stops, which takes 20-30 minutes; the bus station is about 3 kilometers away from the entrance of Taizikeng Park. It is not convenient to take a taxi here, and it takes about 40 minutes to walk. Please note that on the return trip, the last bus of Zengcheng Line 17 is at 21:00, and it will be very troublesome if you miss it. In addition, the departure interval of Zengcheng Bus No. 17 is relatively long, so you need to wait patiently. Therefore, when taking public transportation, you must arrange your travel time reasonably. If you want to watch the sunrise, you really have to live close to the mountain, or camp overnight on the top of the mountain; it is more recommended to watch the sunset, you can return on the same day and the trip will not be too rushed, but you have to choose good weather, otherwise you will return disappointed.
