[Gunma Prefecture/Kumano Shrine] A rare shrine on the prefectural border

Located at an altitude of 1200m, at the top of Usui Pass. A rare shrine on the border between Gunma and Nagano prefectures. After passing through the Zuishinmon Gate, from the left you will see Nachi Shrine, Hongu Shrine, and Shingu Shrine lined up! Shingu Shrine is an important cultural property designated by Gunma Prefecture. The carvings are wonderful, and inside the shrine building you will find a slightly intimidating Suijin shrine built in the early Meiji period, as well as the oldest bell in Gunma Prefecture. Since the shrine office is separate from Kumano Kotaijin Shrine, we received a handwritten stamp from Kumano Shrine. ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ ❁ ❁ ❁┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ ❥❥History On the way back from Emperor Yamato Takeru's conquest of the Eastern Barbarians, I encountered fog at Usui Pass. There, he encountered the Yatagarasu. Following the Yatagarasu as it led the way, dropping Nagi leaves, he safely reached the summit of Usui Pass. The Yatagarasu has a connection with Japan, as it was the Yatagarasu that led his ancestor, Emperor Kanmu, from Kumano to Nara.
