Hangzhou Hu Qing Yu Tang Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Hangzhou Hu Qing Yu Tang Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine is located in Dajing Lane, Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. It is the first professional museum of traditional Chinese medicine in China. It was established in October 1989, on the 115th anniversary of the establishment of Hu Qing Yu Tang Pharmaceutical Factory, and opened in 1991. It is now a national key cultural relic protection unit. The museum covers an area of 2,700 square meters. The museum is divided into five parts: the origin of traditional Chinese medicine, exhibition, workshop, business hall, and health care and treatment. It displays a large number of traditional Chinese medicine tools and more than 10,000 specimens of traditional Chinese medicine plants, animals, and minerals. Among them, the rare treasures include the medicinal materials unearthed from the Hemudu Culture in Zhejiang Province 7,000 years ago, the Mawangdui Han Tomb in Changsha, and the sunken ship in Quanzhou Bay in the Song Dynasty. As of the end of 2022, the museum has 2,919 pieces/sets of collections, including 40 pieces/sets of precious cultural relics, and the total number of visitors in the year was 182,912. The visit takes about half an hour.
