Zhejiang｜Jingshan Temple, ranked first among the "Five Mountains and Ten Temples"

The Jingshan Temple, founded in the Tang Dynasty, is known as one of the "Five Zen Temples" along with the Lingyin Temple and Jingci Temple in Hangzhou, and the Tiantong Temple and Yuwang Temple in Ningbo. Jingshan is where the Tea Saint Lu Yu lived in seclusion and wrote the Classic of Tea. It is also the birthplace of the "Japanese Tea Ceremony" and the ancestral home of the "Linji Sect". ​Jingshan Temple is a temple built by imperial decree issued by the emperors of the Tang and Song dynasties. Emperor Daizong of Tang issued an imperial decree to build Jingshan Zen Temple. During the Southern Song Dynasty, Emperor Xiaozong of Song personally wrote the plaque "Jingshan Xingsheng Wanshou Zen Temple". ​The rebuilt Jingshan Temple now restores the structure of the Tang and Song dynasties and has a very ancient style. Today is the birthday of Guanyin Bodhisattva, the 19th day of the second lunar month. Jingshan Temple is full of believers who come to worship Buddha.
