Kashii, Fukuoka. Kashii Shrine "Tonmiya" and "Kashiigata Manyo Poetry Monument"

There is a guide board on the Kashii approach to Kashii Shrine, where there is the "Tonomiya" and "Kashiigata Manyo Poetry Monument." Follow the guide board and walk up the hill a little, and you will see the torii gate, monument, and building. "Tonomiya" is apparently the place where the portable shrine procession stops during the Shinkoshiki ceremony, which is held every two years. During the ceremony, the portable shrine is paraded down Kashii approach in a brave procession over the course of two days. The Manyo Poetry Monument is engraved with three Manyo poems by Otomo no Tabito and others, as well as a waka poem about Kashiigata. The Kashii area also appeared in Matsumoto Seicho's work "Point and Line."
