Five Pagoda Temple, a landmark building in Hohhot, has a unique status

The Five Pagoda Temple in Hohhot was built during the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty. It was named Cideng Temple by the Qing court. In 1988, it was announced by the State Council as a national key cultural relics protection unit. The most important and famous building in the Five Pagoda Temple is the Vajra Seat Relic Pagoda behind the temple, also known as the Five Pagodas. There are three circular stone carvings inlaid on the mountain wall behind the five-pagoda temple, which are the Mongolian astronomical map, the distribution map of Mount Xumi and the six-path reincarnation map.
