Route Information: Start at [To Tei Wan Bus Stop], pass through [Shek O Bus Stop], and end at [Cape D'Aguilar Bus Stop] (entire route accessible via Hong Kong Island Bus No. 9). This hiking trail is perfect for those who want a relaxing walk while capturing stunning photos. I started my journey at around 11 AM, taking Bus No. 9 from the city to To Tei Wan. Upon arrival, there’s a restroom available for freshening up before heading up Dragon’s Back. The entire hike takes about two and a half hours round trip, with gentle slopes and plenty of photo-worthy spots. The breathtaking sea views on both sides are unparalleled, which is why Lonely Planet named it one of Asia’s most beautiful hiking trails. Personally, I couldn’t resist taking photos halfway through the hike—it’s not necessary to reach the peak to enjoy the stunning scenery. After descending, I hopped back on Bus No. 9 to Shek O. I first grabbed some snacks at the fishing village to refuel, then leisurely walked to Lover’s Bridge. This spot is famous for being featured in the movie "King of Comedy" and the music video for "Boundless Oceans, Vast Skies." The small fishing village feels peaceful and cozy, a stark contrast to the usual crowded tourist spots. If you’re not in a rush, Shek O is definitely worth spending more time exploring. Finally, I took Bus No. 9 to Cape D'Aguilar. After getting off, I followed the flat road to the University of Hong Kong’s Swire Institute of Marine Science. The Crab Cave is located behind the blue research building. The entire route is paved and easy to walk, but it’s quite long, taking about two hours round trip. The scenery along the way is relatively ordinary. If you spot a minibus or a ride-share opportunity, consider taking it to save energy. Note that there’s a restroom near the starting point, but none further along the route, so plan accordingly. The Crab Cave offers a stunning view, but the strong winds and waves mean you should prioritize safety while taking photos. I returned to the Cape D'Aguilar Bus Stop around 6 PM and took Bus No. 9 back to the city. Keep in mind that the last bus departs at 8:30 PM. The road back is unlit at night, and there’s a chance of encountering wild boars—I’m not exaggerating, I saw their glowing eyes! This day trip costs less than HK$100 and offers hiking, sea views, photo opportunities, and a chance to experience movie locations. It’s truly worth every penny.
